Took our free standing wood burner out for a gas unit. Another great decision.

UPDATE TIME!

Well, we FINALLY have running hot water again -

mrs humfrz is all happy -

I've been feeling badly about how I have depicted her during this lack of running hot water crisis.

She hit the bathroom a couple of hours ago and hasn't come out since. So, I stuck my head into the bathroom, snapped a picture and ask her how much longer she was going to be in there.

She didn't respond -

It's amazing how just being happy and smiling can take years... even decades... off a person!

Thank God!

That is exactly how I pictured her.

Down side is, because the engineer was inattentive and presumptive, we thought the a/c condenser was 15 and reasonably due for replacement. Turns out, it was the 10 year old condenser... but the new one should be a lot more efficient, and too late now, so... in it goes. Tomorrow. That's right, they'll be installing our air conditioning when it is no warmer than 4 degrees out there. At least mostly out of the wind, I hope!
Yaaaaaaaaa!

Is that a heat pump system?

Do you have an electric or gas backup to the system if it is a heat pump?

It's only the igniter circuit that's dead, so I've been (NEVER DO THIS AT HOME KIDS!) manually lighting it...

It never got below like 56 before I woke up, and then it took long enough to get back up to 68 that it'd be daytime and I could keep a closer eye on things. I did have to work from home though (thankfully, I can).

Plain old gas. It's all good, we have ways to stay warm. OK... I have ways, my wife doesn't like them (good sleeping bags are claustrophobic) and our nearly 21 year old cat doesn't have a sleeping bag at all (she'd just burrow though). But that assumes we don't get up and moving about. And it's not no heat entirely, just a royal pain with no official replacements so a repair of a 15 year old furnace was half as much as a replacement... we went to variable speed though, so should see some efficiency improvement also. I'd guess the a/c was nearly dead despite being 'younger' than we thought - it made a horrid racket while running, and it wasn't crap on the fan (I clean them every spring).

Glad you have your hot water back. In some ways, that's a lot more frustrating (even though less potentially bad...)

Does it count if he just puts a big wing on his car so he can see where the tail is when backing up?

Oh, OK - be right back.

Sweet Pea, Tcoat says it's for you to get out of the hot water - we have to cook the rice in it.

Interesting. Similar story. The last two years we lived in CT, we heated our house with wood (about 10 cords a winter).

When we moved to Missouri, our house had a huge functional pot bellied stove in the master bedroom. My wife (now ex) said - we have a two zone heat pump system in this house - don't you even think about lighting that thing.

How did that happen? Well, she and I got all drunked up on a Friday night and we flew to Las Vegas and got hitched the next day. Yep, 33 years ago, last week.

See, how easy that can happen -

humfrz
So moral of the story is... get drunk then fly to Vegas? Tomorrow is Friday.
