My coated JDL header, overpipe, and catted frontpipe were 1350 shipped to my door. That's still way less than an uncoated ace header/overpipe.

JDL 4-2-1 EL header

My point is that people complaining about ACE being expensive have every reason to do so. There is no reason for ACE to discontinue the type B headers other than making their customers spend more money. The Type B headers were still expensive, but for the extra performance worth it for most people. I don't see any reason to pay $600 more for the same header without slip joints and a smaller convergence angle (15 vs 20 degrees). JDL's UEL header which is less than half the price of the ACE type A has a 15 degree collector anyway so it can't be that hard to make.

My point is that ACE headers work, but they are not worth $1000 more than a JDL UEL(already at the high end of the market). At ~$1100 they'd be a compelling option. At $1700 not so much.

lol

I don't like UEL sound either but that might rile some feathers

FYI this thread is about a new JDL EL header, not UEL. Hopefully will be priced in-line with their current offerings. I think that was more to his point...

It's not like the 86 is bursting at the seams with easy NA gains. The CS400 with a Delicious tune is $1700 (ecutek hardware extra). Still a good value imo on $/hp for those staying NA.

New Ace250 type B only 1350 shipped. Also has highest combined torque/hp vs 350 and 150.

Ace headers are 1885, with the Ace header, overpipe, hardware, tune, and revisions until it runs to CSG/DT's satisfaction. It is a premium, but not as much as people make it out to be.

If you go in reverse order based on market prices, $350 for a custom tune, $50 for hardware, $250 for an overpipe, all the sudden, the header itself only cost you 1235. Not a huge premium for proven numbers.

Based on the numbers I've seen so far, the JDL EL will slot in nicely, but I do expect it to be more expensive than the UEL.

They are not, other than the CS400. The CS400 was primarily made as an A350 alternative for RHD cars, as the space available was different. There is now a RHD variant of the A350, with different routing but similar results, which obsoletes the CS400 for all intents and purposes.
