APEX | Job Opening: JDM Product Expert

Are you passionate about performance cars, specifically Japanese models? Do you find yourself researching mods all the time and giving your friends advice on how to set up their cars? Do you like to write and create educational content like DIY’s? If you’re determined to find a job that combines your career with your passion, then this is your chance! APEX Race Parts is seeking enthusiasts who want to join our elite team of Product Experts.

This position can be performed fully remotely and is specifically an expert for the JDM/KDM market. To qualify, you need to be very familiar with the various models and generations across these markets, and the specific details that would be necessary to confidently speak with the savvy customers who own them. We can teach you everything there is to know about our wheels and products, but you need to show up with a strong general understanding of performance parts in order to hold in-depth conversations about vehicle setups, tires, suspension, brakes, alignments, and the other variables that affect a car’s performance. You shouldn’t be lost when a customer starts talking about how to correct the torque dip on their 86 or in a debate about “zenki” vs “kouki” conversions.

There are no cold-calls or sleazy sales techniques here, so you don’t need sales experience. We’re enthusiasts first and foremost. Our Experts are focused on either directly answering customer questions and making recommendations, or creating great educational content so enthusiasts can help themselves.

Your objective is to make it easier for customers to make a buying decision, to make technical info easy to digest, to decrease response times, and to support our continued catalog expansion. To do this you’ll be answering emails, talking on the phone, posting on forums, posting on social media, writing blog articles, and participating in the creation of videos. You’ll also keep your finger on the pulse of the JDM market by monitoring and identifying ways we can expand our reach with social media influencers or other partnership opportunities, and passing those leads on to our marketing team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide customers with detailed wheel/tire/suspension/brake fitment recommendations and product education.
  • Use our project management tools to stay organized, set goals, and collaborate with coworkers.
  • Help our knowledge survive the apocalypse by documenting, organizing, and building out detailed technical articles and model-specific fitment guides.
  • Help transform our website into a 24/7 sales machine by continually improving educational and product content in order to reduce customer dependence on email or phone for clarification.
  • Get hands on with the community by engaging in relevant automotive forums, Facebook groups, and social media, where you’ll answer questions, maintain our commercial threads, and post guides.
  • Defeat trolls by keeping yourself composed and writing responses so sensible that it blows their minds.
  • Represent our company and products as we introduce new fitments to our existing markets.
  • Work with our market research and business development teams to introduce our company into new automotive communities, makes, and models.
  • Be our customers’ spokesperson and identify market-specific needs for those communities as APEX selects new products to develop and new content to prioritize
  • Use our CRM to track and process all customer questions and issues until they’re solved.
  • Learn to support additional products as the catalog expands.
  • Write blog articles that will bring people to our site or help reduce questions.
  • Help draft video scripts and speak in videos as an expert.
  • Help pick influencers and vendors to sponsor or build relationships with.
Requirements
  • Truly knowledgeable and passionate about the JDM market, someone whose friends would easily define them as an experienced enthusiast of that market.
  • Broadly familiar with performance parts and proper vehicle setup from suspension and brakes to alignment. We’ll give you a Ph.D. in wheel/tire setup, but you should already have an A.A. degree in modding cars for track use.
  • Not track newbies. They have experience with track days, autocross, or competitive events.
  • Known for their exceptionally high customer service skills that earns them mountains of praise and referrals.
  • Passionate about writing; they’re known for creating blog posts, DIY threads, and articles, with examples to prove it.
  • Articulate with extremely clear written and verbal communication skills. Grammar Nazis welcome.
  • Already computer literate, familiar with Google Suite, MS Office, Mac OS and has experience interacting via online forums
  • Equipped with marketing street smarts so that all public communication represents the brand’s standards.
  • Comfortable speaking to people at events or being interviewed on camera.
