The WTA is a bit of a mess right now. No dominant top two or three players - which, in some ways, does keep things interesting but not for me.
Really miss players like Justin Henin since she was a real champ and classy to go along with that. World-class single-handed backhand, too. Serena is seriously just an amazing embarrassment to the WTA and the entire sport. Absolutely love the men's ATP tour, though. So much interesting stuff going on right now. Zverev's been cursed with the year-end finals champion curse. (Dimitrov was the last one). Shapovalov is also in an unfortunate spiral. FAA it seems is far ahead right now at 18 compared to where Roger, Rafa and Novak were at his age. Scary to think how far he could go if everything works out. Nadal/Kyrgios showdown yesterday was somewhat entertaining. Sad to see Thiem and Tsitsipas exit so early. Medvedev and Anderson also fell today and I believe Novak's upper half is pretty much open. I think either Roger or Novak will take Wimbledon this year. |
