Just hit 50k total miles. Also hit 2000 track miles this year alone. Definitely not a daily though.

I anticipate stops and slow down before using my brakes. I set the rpm alarm at 3000 and have only had it go off maybe 3 times so far. I do not plan on keeping it for a very long time and may trade or sell it if there is a major model change. So...maybe in a few years if plan to do sell or trade remember me. This is the car to buy. NEVER been beaten on and ready for someone who wants a BRZ that has basically been babied and well cared for.
To each his own I guess. You have this extreme and the “I beat on it daily” mindset. Both to me are equally puzzling as to why you would drive like this

I drive really hard and I just hit 11,000 miles since last August. In fact, my front bumper is bit damaged as a result of hitting a tire piece from a SUV. I drive mostly on freeways but the speed is not less than 85mph and BRZ is telling me to drive fast. I just happen to visit Honda dealer and when I told them that what a lovely car BRZ is and the tech told me you never drove Civic and Civic has power and fun, I just chuckled.

130,000 miles of hard driving:
1. All 4 of the CV joints on my 2 axles split open, leaked, and caused CV damage.
2. The differential inlet shaft bearing started to spin at an off-axis, requiring the replacement of the diff, or twice as much money to replace just the bearing.
3. Driveshaft support bearing is damaged/universal joints have play and will need replacement.
4. I may have a damaged transmission output shaft bearing...but that’ll be decided after I replace the driveshaft.

Stage 1 OFT Tune, stock drivetrain bushings.

Seriously, you've only had it at 3k rpm a total of three times? Great, so you're constantly lugging the engine and arguably causing more problems than driving it normally which includes exceeding 3k rpm. Der duh der.
Let me ask you this question. If you were in the market for a BRZ and if you found 2 cars exactly the same and the only difference was that one was my car (the grandpa car) and the other was one driven to the full extent as designed to be driven. Which one would you buy?

Why does the next owner matter?

I would rather have the one that's been wrung out but well maintained.

The problem is that anybody can claim that they drive their car like a grandpa, even the people that beat the snot out of the car every mile of the car's life. If I were looking at buying a used sports car and the seller claimed that they never took it over 3k RPM, I would assume that they are just feeding me a line to try to sell the car.

I think what kind of owner you're buying the car from is absolutely irrelevant. Grandpa, grandma, giraffe. The only important thing is how well was the car taken care of? Did you check the oil level every couple of weeks or so? How often did you change the oil? What kind of gas did you use? Intake filter? Trans oil? Soooo many ladies I know drive their car without changing the oil for a year and have no idea that you're responsible for some basic maintenance and checks. They buy a car that explicitly states ON THE FUEL TANK CAP "at least 91" and they fill it with 87. Why? The car is a lease and they don't care about the next owner - taken from the horse's mouth. So be careful with thinking just because the owner seems benign that the car is in top fettle

Let me ask you one question. How would I know the "grandpa" one wasn't driven to the full extent or worse?
As mentioned, if somebody told me they only drove to 3K on one of these I would probably laugh and walk away. It doesn't add value to the car when you make such a claim. Both would be worth exactly the same amount. Now, if one can put a well documented service history in front of me and the other says "I changed the oil once I promise" THEN I would lean toward the one over the other.

I abuse my tires and suspension more than the motor.
Since throwing on PS4s, I am constantly tempted on my commute to enter offramps/transfers at highway speeds.

The engine might see redline once a day, it depends. it's hard not to keep your foot in it after feeling the power surge around 4500RPM. Wheneverr it's muggy and I need AC I end up getting better mileage

I haven't heard of old lady-man concept before this forum. Similarly in Turkey we have a "doctor driven car" thing. I assume they take driving classes in medical schools.

THIS ^
I have said this many times but will again.
There are many, many young people on here that pamper their cars even if they push them a bit and I would buy theirs used in a heartbeat. There are also many older ones that beat the living crap outta them and just do the bare minimum so I would not touch their car with a ten foot pole.
Age, sex, income, or any other commonly used gauge of the previous owner has very little to do with how they take car of or use their car. I have seen this time and time again over the years. I even have a good example.
Back in 1970 my dad got a smoking hot deal on a 64 Mustang convertible with only 70K miles on it. It had been owned since new by the 60 year old wife of the owner of the largest Ford dealer in the city. It looked really pretty and well maintained but would stall every time it rained out. We decided to do a tune up and were horrified by what we found. The oil looked like it was probably the full 6 years old (and we are talking old dino oil to start with). The plugs had obviously never been even looked at much less changed since they were actually rusted to the block. The distributer rotor was burned off to a nub and two plug wires had worn right through the casings. That car had not seen even the most basic of service in the 6 years it had existed. I had $50 junkers where the engine was in better shape and it had belonged to literally the top dealership owner in the city.
