I agree. Subtract 90 lbs for the trans, 30 lbs for the flywheel and clutch, and I get 360 lbs for the FA20 with no flywheel/clutch/trans.

My research suggests the K24A1 weighs 283 lbs (scroll to July 6: http://www.midlana.com/Diaries/Old%2.../2008July-Dec/). Related forum reading suggests that is an accurate number. The 283 lbs weight includes header (no cat), starter, and alternator, but no intake manifold nor flywheel, and no AC compressor. I think adding 5 lbs for an intake and throttle body on the K24 is fair, as well as adding a 10 lbs penalty since the FA20 weight includes a stock catted header, and a more apples-to-apples comparison would allow for a tubular header on the FA20. So, that leaves 283+5+10 = 298 lbs. Add another 15 lbs for the AC compressor and it's 313 lbs vs. 360 lbs with similarly configured engines. The base K24 weight (headers+starter+alternator) would have to be around 230 lbs or less for it to be an easy 100 lbs drop, and I just can't (as much as I want to) find good references for that low of a number.

I think you're making it more convoluted than it needs to be, and are ending up adding weights where they shouldn't. The only difference between the published Vorshlag and HASport weights are that halfshafts are included in the K24 weight. Other than that, both numbers include a stock exhaust manifold, and all accessories, including starter and AC compressor, which you seem to be adding back onto the K24 weight for some reason. The only difference really is that you wouldn't be adding the PS pump or axle weight for the Honda back onto the finished product, and that the exhaust manifold and transmissions will be significantly lighter as well. None of this accounts for additional weight loss potential from a lightweight flywheel and/or clutch assembly, either.

At any rate, whether it's 75 pounds or 100 or more, the result of all this would be a much lighter front end, higher redline, more torque and (arguably) a better sounding motor, and that's just if you left the motor otherwise stock...

I'm making it more convoluted? I don't have to add any weight to the K24 by itself on a scale for it to be obvious that the weight savings is limited to a max ~80 lbs, and that includes disingenuously attributing the weight loss from an AC and cat delete to the K24 engine.

Either way, at the end of the day you are putting in an objectively superior engine with well-established aftermarket and a well-documented history of making great power. Even if it didn't shed a pound this swap would be a tempting option.

I never suggested deleting either of those. Perhaps you're thinking of someone else. Or another engine swap and thread entirely.

I never said you did. That was a freestanding hypothetical.

Don't you hate it when you're texting and girl and her reply is " k "

Same looking for an a1 to swap. So I can boost it once I have it swapped in and running.

Going for k24a1 cuz low compression and cheap. I know rods are smaller. It’s just that the a2 is a bit spendy and it’s higher compression. And I’m not doing any internal work so I’m not sure what’s better for stock motor turbo build.

Can anyone chime in which one would be a better option for stock internals 450whp? Idk how big of a deal compression is for these blocks. If the compression difference is even worth considering.

K Swap Civic vs Supercharged FRS
FRS won the track race without any competition showing how good it is for what it is designed for - track. Civic had a slight edge in the drag race but a Z71 Silverado could have beaten both of them on the drag strip.

I would take the supercharged FRS over that k-swapped Civic any day. We will hopefully see how k-swapped twin will be ...

Waiting on the mounts to be cut so we can test fit and put them up for sale, waiting on the prototype wiring harness, once I have those 2 things I can roll fast with it.

Noob question but, if you wanted to turbo or tune your K24 Swap in general. How does the tuning process work as someone that usually does E-Tuning?

Would I need to go through Hondata or KTuner and use their software or would we still be using ECUTEK?
