No, you need to pull the front cover off and swap over the cam trigger wheels off the older engine. Each wheel is specific to each camshaft. Turn the engine over by hand until the triangles face each other before swapping. 3 inverted torx bolts each, sorry I don't remember the size off the top of my head. I want to say they go to 12-13ft-lbs, but, please double check.

Yeah, I was just thinking if he was going to be doing it with the engine in the car still it would be easier to just swap the wheels themselves. That way he doesn't have to mess with the pulling the chain and messing with that bit, saving a bit of time.

Pull one of the top cam sensors out then, peek through the hole. That should tell you what you have at least.

did you ever get this straightened out? Try to confirm if a MY17+ AT engine is more direct swap than the MT

What if I swap 17 engine into 13 with 17 ecu and harness. Will it work? Anyone know?
