Do they even need to put a turbo on it? They're tuned with headers and it already seems fairly close on the track and they haven't even gone the e85 route yet.

As someone also tuned on headers in Australia waiting to fill on e85 (The prices are stupid high right now and my whole state is basically on home arrest) I'd be pretty interested to see how much of an impact that would make in their comparison times.

And then slap a turbo on after just for overkill.

Good components they can source locally / quickly would make 100% sense in a build they're doing quickly. Also the whole covid world scenario and shipping....

There isn't a huge, traditional "JDM" following for this car yet either so parts are parts. Harrop would be a great addition to this theme if they go the supercharger route.

Everything needs a turbo

Boost up both and get some proper rubber on them.

If they both had decent rubber the twin wouldn't be so loose and the WRX would have much less understeer.

Watching 2 poorly setup cars, whilst fun, isn't really a good standard to judge overall performance.

In the end though, even if the twin is faster, I would still rather own that old Rexy.

Modern throw away cheap sports coupe vs classic hero 90's ('99?)performance car.

It's probably the fact that they get big discounts for it, or maybe even get given it for free as a promotional thing. Shipping costs for Australians is really high, not to mention the wait time.

I personally like it as local 'made in Australia' parts are hard to find reviews for as its generally just reviews on things bought off ftspeedfactory. So nice to see that there are cheaper alternatives that are of similar quality so I don't have to add $300 usd for shipping expenses on my part orders- Not to mention the 86/ BRZ scene is pretty big in Aus

The brief snippet around 22minutes on using 5w40 oil and the point about the weight of the oil dropping by 10w for every 10 degrees over 100C fascinated me. Anyone have a link to data/results?

This doesn't directly answer your question, but here's a website you can play around with based on various oils. Look up oil weights on manufacturer websites and find the data on them and enter it in the blanks. You can see how oil is affected (approximately) based on the temperature change.

The measurement of oil weight is cut from the middle of a graph. They are not the minimum and maximum viscosities. ALL oil will be thicker than the first number and thinner than the second number at temperatures outside the rating.
