Not today, but Saturday, I celebrated the 4th anniversary of taking delivery of my 2015 FR-S. I'm right at 30K miles per year, with 120,120 miles on the odometer when I filled up Friday night.

Are you sure you are reading the dipstick properly and at the right time?

(sorry, I had to ask)

Well, on the bright side you got extra oil -

(that is the reason I always check the oil level after a oil change, before I leave the lot)

I doubt that that amount of overfill is causing the engine to run sluggish.

However, if the overfill is causing the oil in the crankcase to foam, it ain't doing the engine any good.

I'd drain out a quart and keep it to top off the oil if necessary.

i checked before starting the car up in the morning and then again 18 miles later at a gas station near my office... so yes, i checked it correctly lol

i'm going to drain it later.. i think there's at least half quart extra... at least..

I got to 7500km, so figured I’d change the oil. I bought a couple of 5l containers of penrite 0W20, and an oil drain pan, with a coarse plastic screen across the top.

Put the car on chassis stands, put the drain pan underneath, and opened the sump plug. Oil hit the screen on top of the pan, which succeeded in ensuring most oil was redirected upwards, landing pretty much anywhere but the pan.

Thankfully the oil was very clean, so after a quick shower, a few kilos of kitty litter, and a couple of litres of degreaser the garage floor is back where I started.

Next time I’ll raise the pan up closer to the sump, and remove the screen.

I didnt bother swapping the filter. I’ve put 5l back in and it’s 1/3rd of the way up the dip stick, so I reckon maybe 100ml more and I’m done.

Check out the Fumoto valve. It makes oil changes super easy. You can attach a hose to the valve which goes down to your can so even on a windy day it doesn’t make a mess.

Also make sure you change the filter soon.

OMG what a stupendously good idea. Definitely installing one on the next oil change.

Yep. No more replacing crush washers either. You also don’t have to wait for the oil to cool before draining because it isn’t going to run down your arm. You just need to be quick when you flip the lever because the valve itself will still be hot. Hahaha

Took the car back to the dealership and the foreman noted that he couldn't replicate sluggish acceleration during test drive... Yeaaaaaaaah, I fully expected him to rev down the dealership parking lot

And yet, they found my car was overfilled by half a quart .

At least the guy gave me a voucher for a free oil change...

Switched back to the summer wheels this weekend. Here in the Chicago area, this time of year, you can expect almost any type of weather, but Saturday was a perfect day to do it and it looks like we will be well above freezing from here until next winter.
