Sub Installed
Decided to go with a 10" sealed enclosure. Still powered by my workhorse Kicker 750.1 amp (rated at 1000 RMS). Last edited by ecko04; 03-11-2013 at 09:00 PM. |

Personally, I would've preferred to do an install like the one in my Camaro, but the weather hasn't improved to the point where I can really get going on woodworking as I would like.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209155 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214181 So for now, i'll deal with the vanilla 10" sub enclosure and amp mounted to the box approach. It does the job for now. The amp slightly hangs off the side of the box so I used some backstrap to secure it and screw the backstrap into the side of the box for support. As I was doing the install, I completely forgot to run my remote turn-on wire from behind the radio. I had already re-installed the radio and as I was wiring up the amp, it dawned on me. Oh well, I grabbed my multi-meter since the factory amp for the Bespoke system that drives the front door speakers is in the back, quickly located its 12v amp turn on so I used it. I used the factory amp ground as well. This little addition, that took about an hour from beginning to end, substantially improved the sound of the vehicle. I usually change all the interior speakers with coaxial speakers in the rear and components in the front then drive those with a 4 channel amp. As I take a listen now, I may forgo that all together as the sound has improved that much by just adding a sub. While I was at it, I hardwired a radar detector as well. |

I don't really like the way the amp is mounted. I like the setup in my Camaro but I have more space to work with. I think i'll dust off my JL XD 400/4 & JL XD 600/1 and do a stealth mounting job.
For now, it'll work until I get my Polk speakers in. At that point I plan on doing the entire audio system in 1 take. |

Loved my Dayton, it's by far the best sounding sub but I have a lot of subs so I switch quite often. I removed the Kicker mono and replaced it with an JL XD 600/1. I also installed the 4 channel JL XD 400/4. While I was at it I swapped subs from the Kicker CompR to the HiVi SP10...look at the surround & magnet!
