MT vs AT deciding factor =cup holder

You guys are probably going to hate my reasoning for AT..
But it came down to a cup holder and center console I didn’t want to swap out.
I don’t understand why the Automatic GR86 gets the cup holder in the center console and the MT does not.

Also the AT gets remote start via the App, where MT does not.

It's a lot easier and cheaper to swap a center console vs transmission.

I felt speed wise I could just shift with the paddle shifters if I felt the transmission was shifting late

lol really poor reason to choose AT over that but if it makes you feel better about your choice but if you are talking about shifting speed it sounds like you aren't a MT fan to begin with. not sure there are modern day MT fans who care about shifting speeds in this era of DCTs, MT is all about feel and engagement..

they probably didn't include it because it is probably a pita if you have a drink there while you're shifting. plus, what's the point since you have 2 bottle holders in the doors and another 2 in the center console, how many drinks you need to be carrying? lol

There are a lot of odd reasons for choosing one trim or transmission over another but this one is definitely an odd one... in the end, hope you're happy with the car.

Bottom line rule of thumb... you always need one more cup holder than you have.

No hate - but you didn't really want an MT if this is your reasoning.

Two would be fine. It's the fact that to use the one that accommodates my cup of choice (32oz Yeti) you need to have the armrest cover open and I don't like that.

Oh, I completely get that. I have the OEM style armrest for my '13 MomHawk gave me for Christmas 2021 that I still haven't installed for that reason. I really should do that once it's back from the body shop before she remembers....

Ya lol I wasn’t going MT in the first place .. lol , but one extra thing I appreciate being there , can put my cellphone there . Does anyone know if there is a power plug behind the glove compartment on the GR86 , they had it on the Gen1

I’m still waiting on mine to come in :/

Since my 32oz YETI is more or less an extension of my arm, the only time my armrest cover is down is when I am not in the car and want it to look "nice."

If the deciding factor for MT vs AT is a cup holder,

may I recommend an Altima or a Camry to you?
