My tire exploded as I entered the office today. Here's the culprit:

An allen wrench extender. Definitely wasn't expecting that

I feel for you!

Happen to me last Friday night. I drove the wife's STi and picked her up from work. Pulled out of the lot and felt the car give a strange shake. I knew it was a flat. Luckily one of the techs was still there and helped us out. Got the car up on a hoist and found a piece of metal sticking out between two tread blocks right at the edge of the the side wall. Got the space saver on to drive home. She had the tire patched today but... she ordered a new winter cause the hole was so close to the side wall. Snows have less than 10,000 kilometers on them.

Of course the tires were fresh. Same here. Mine had about 2000 miles on it.

Side note: your wife drives an STI? What a badass chick. I'm trying to get mine to ditch her boring, but exceptionally functional RAV4 for something a bit more... fun

This is her second STi. She bought a new hatch back in 2011 but hated it. She thought it would drive like my 2006 but it was a couch on wheels. She bought a 2016 because it's more like my 2006 was.
Yep, bad to the bone! She also rides a Ducati Monster 796 and we have five grand children. She's a keeper!

The picture is dark but it's not entirely blocking the vent so you still get some air out of it. I live near to the equator so I do understand.

Maybe I need more time with it but so far I actually prefer the inserts.

just wanted to follow up on my own post here and say I take back what I said. I'm not sure if it's because the mount needed a few days to break in, but I love it now. The shifts are buttery but nicely notchy, the shifter stays still as if I have a dual mass flywheel now, I highly recommend it.

What was the shifting feel before with the inserts? shifter doesn't stay still?

How are you liking the mount in conjunction with the Perrin engine mounts? Still experiencing a lot of NVH?

Still sharp but inconsistent. It's now consistently smooth and has a premium feel to it. Cabin noise reduced somewhat, less drivetrain slop

I like it a lot. I'm actually pretty used to the Perrin mounts now, to the point where I don't notice them at all. But I guess some of the thrashing and clunking could be attributed to the oem mount/perrin/whiteline combo. The sti mount has a very thick - albeit flexible - layer of urethane, which I imagine is soft enough to civilize the cabin but firm enough to provide consistently smooth shifting.

Do you have the aftermarket shifter bushing installed or still OEM bushing? I’m trying to find out if $200 for trans mount is worth it for just street hooning- canyon carving

Yes I do. I have the MTEC shifter springs as well.
