IOS 6 MAP Support w/BRZ HU

So with IOS 6 Apple added Bluetooth MAP support so you can receive text messages via bluetooth. I can't seem to get it to work with the BRZ head unit. I see the IPhone show up under messages but when I try to transfer messages nothing comes over and when I receive texts nothing happens. Anyone else have this working or not working?

The real question is, why would you want to? Stock HU maps actually work....

Not trying to be a dink, but it's well known that they failed with the Apple Maps. They even admitted it.

DWX is referring to the ability of the HU to recieve text messages, which iOS 6 is supposed to have support for via MAP protocol.

I can't seem to get it to work either.

On the topic of the nav system, my BRZ is terrible as it loses satellites all the time. Until they provide the fix I'm using my iPhone for navigation via Waze.

You have to go into the Bluetooth settings in ios6 and enable notifications. I got a text this morning while driving in and it read it back to me. Pretty cool.

There is already a fix for the poor satellite reception. Your dealer should be able to do it.

Called my dealer last Friday and they claimed there is no fix yet for the nav problem. Has a TSB been released?

Found the BT notification setting...thanks!

Hmm I had BT notifications setup, maybe I will try deleting and adding the IPhone again. I also changed my default messages setting so it doesn't show a message on the lock screen when the device is locked wonder if that has something to do with it.

Deleting and re-adding seems to have worked for me. I did it originally because after I upgraded to iOS6, it was taking forever to connect to Bluetooth. Then I got a text and it surprised me when it popped up on the screen! Connection problem went away too.

The "fail" is much less a problem than the media is portraying. Yeah, there are issues but for the most part it's functional and works nicely. Much easier to use than the unit that came with my BRZ.

I'm going to have to disagree there. I've seen the iOS maps in action and I think the BRZ's stock navi is a bit better. Maybe not graphically, but functionally.

My dealer told me that there is a fix in the works but they haven't received it yet. Supposedly a software update and repositioning of the GPS antenna.
