Hachiroku owners/fans... How much would you pay....

For a pristine AE86 with 48 original KM on the clock?

This is just the opposite. Wretched excess.

http://jalopnik.com/5781765/the-sult...car-collection

"Of the 2,500 cars in the collection less than 100 were Ferraris and only a few hundred cars in total were commercially viable. All had minimal mileage but all were poster children for deferred maintenance. None had been started in five years (and that was back in 2002) and so over 2,000 lesser cars were simply beyond saving. Our offers were cheerfully accepted by the importer who had offered the cars but none came with any service records. Even worse, none had titles and getting a bill of sale or an export documents was almost impossible as the mid-level Bruneian bureaucrats were paralyzed by indecision or the fear of making a "political" mistake and issuing export paperwork."

"Over the last eight years less than a dozen significant cars have left, most as gifts to well-connected ex-pats. Another few hundred more pedestrian Mercedes have been given to Brunei locals but the bulk of the collection is still there and will die there, rotting into oblivion, a massive example of wretched automotive excess and a total dismissal of beautiful automobiles."

That is cool. Shows the dedication.

I know he drained the fuel lines and hand cranks the engine to make sure everything is well oiled. But still, after 25 years wouldn't the seals start breaking down?

I really doubt that. Many collectors have cars that are much older than that without replaced parts.

Im actually kind of surprised it isnt on jackstands or anything, the springs and struts wear while being sat on.

That is sweet! The 80's was a damn good decade even though I was a kid. Only if I knew half of the stuff I had back back then would be worth so much today; all of my og Transformers that were die cast metal, og GT Pro Performer chrome bmx w/black mags, my og Tony Hawk, Mike McGill and Steve Caballero Powell Peralta skateboards.

Seeing this AE86 as mint as it gets shows tons of willpower and dedication from the owner.

I know for a fact this new FR-S is going to be remarkable and maybe we should take notes from this guy.

Awesome, but crazy.

I would be the wrong person to buy that car, as I'd immediately start driving it destroying it's value.

^ Kinda agreed. 86 fans would hate me, but I'd just be happy to get a fresh platform to drive the snot out of, rather than having to rescue and restore a rotting shell. I don't really see the "value" other than novelty in that car.... then again, being considered now a cult classic, it might be able to swing a nice price in the future.

That's definitely cool. My uncle has an 87 Buick Grand National with <400miles on it from driving it around the block once a month for 25 years. But I wouldn't ever want to own it, or the Corolla. Maybe if I had a large collector's warehouse and more money than sense. I buy cars to drive them.

Still cool though!
