This will probably be a requirement of your insurance company. They have to be aware of fraudulent claims and requiring their insured to make a police report is some what of a deterrent.

I did have a comprehensive claim come back to bite me once. On my 1986 MR2 that I'd put $12k into, I contacted a classic car insurance company about getting insured on a limited mileage classic car plan. They refused to give me a quote because I'd had a comprehensive claim getting a rock chip repaired in the windshield ($70). Free rock chip repairs were part of my policy, so I took advantage of it. I thought that was total BS, but what ya gonna do.

Like the other guy said the regular frs does not have a security system only the brz does. Even if you have a brz it's not activated from the factory you have to activate yourself. Why this car doesn't have a factory alarm this day in age I have no clue.

when is the last time you paid any attention to a car alarm?

Actually I had the near exact same thing happen to me. Car in underground parking, directly under a camera, loose tires in the back. The criminals broke into a few other vehicles and broke windows, but I dont lock my doors. So i got lucky, all they did was open my door, rip a bag, see that they where in fact tires and left them there.

good luck in getting it sorted out!
