Smile OpenFlash Tablet G-Meter and Performance Driving Pack

Hi guys,
We have a big update we will be releasing to all OFT users later this month. It is something that we have been working on for a little while now. Something squarely aimed at those who are focused on performance driving/racing/drifting. It's something that I (personally) have always wanted. And like all other OFT updates, it will be FREE

With the next update, you will be able to monitor/data log everything you need to quantify driving dynamics. This includes:

- Lateral G
- Acceleration G
- Deceleration G
- Yaw (drifting!)
- Brake pressure
- Steering wheel angle
- Individual tire air temperatures
- Individual wheel speeds
- Individual wheel spin

Now there is no need to spend anther $500-1000 on an add-on race data acquisition system. And even better is that all these new channels can be monitored/log along with the usual engine related data (boost, AFR, timing, knock, etc,.) This makes for a VERY powerful tool for those who want to quantify their driving. With these new features you will be able to compare lap times and be able to definitively determine where the difference is as well as how to improve your performance. Monitoring tire temps will also give you insight into things like alignment, tire size, pressures, etc. One thing we can't quite log (yet) is tire pressure. But we are working on it

Cheers,
shiv

What kind of sensors are you using for tire temps? One per corner or are you able to measure temps across the tire?

We are doing it rather simplistically and reading air temp from the TPMS. So its an tire air temp reading, not a tire surface temp reading.

Cool, but still need GPS location to tie it all together.

You need to add a Bluetooth interface so apps like CMS Lap Timer can integrate the data from the OFT and GPS and video...

Wow, quite an update once again! Got a track day planned on August 9th, guess if this is released I'll have the opportunity to test this

If you want this to be successful with the track guys, make sure it can output in a format that can be analyzed by an ?existing? and powerful analysis software package.

Data is useless without a good way to digest and understand it.

@Shiv@Openflash Damn its unbelievable how much value you pack into the OFT. As an ESC + e85 user with nearly full exhaust, I'm getting tons of value. This is why I'm 100% on board with your move into Fiat Abarth. The S.O.'s lil Scorpion is going to push my car after it gets its' OFT.

^^ Yep, it has accelerometers and a yaw angle sensor. The VSC system needs them to work.

If there is any possibility of hooking in an external GPS (and finishing up tire pressures!), this would be a huge win!

I wonder if OFT would only be able to access tire pressures if the car has TPMS installed. I am not sure, but I don't think BRZ's in Canada came from the factory with the sensors installed. Well, at least the ones I saw in Tbay didn't.

It would need TPMS to get pressure data...
