Which way do your subs face?

For those of you with sub(s) in the trunk, which way do they face?

I still use my trunk at times, so I have the box pushed up near the back seat. Currently my subs fire forward (into the back seat). However, I've contemplated turning the box around and have them facing the trunk so I can put the amp between the box/seat.

Anyone see any acoustic advantages either way?

Down, because of mounting points and looks - also it was designed to face downward, from what I've read.

What about sideways?

Bass isn't really directional like higher tones are, so I don't think it really matters which way the sub faces.

Subwoofers are omnidirectional, it matters jack which way you point them.

This is technically true, but only if the sub remains in the same place. Most of the time, it doesnt when you change from forward facing to rear facing.

Corner loaded usually has the most output of locations in the trunk, but it also usually has a huge peak which doesn't sound that good. On the other hand, in the center of the trunk facing upwards usually has the least output of trunk locations, but has much smoother frequency response and sounds better.

Best place I've used is the front passenger footwell. It's been done in a brz with a 12". Not as loud as corner loaded in the trunk, but the bass is up front where it belongs, and has smooth response prior to eq.
