A little inside is no big deal. If I go with a 17x8 with a 48mm I just want to make sure i'm not going to hit my suspension with a ~1" drop and some negative camber. I see 48mm on the chart is no where near ideal, so it has me a bit concerned. Then again 8.0 wide rim is not that much wider to begin with compared to a 9 or 10" wide.

actually, its a pretty big difference if you go for 8, 9, or 10" rim wide.

a 9" wide rim with +35 is very close to the inner struits, so math tells us that an 8" with +48 will be about as close as the 9" With +35

if you can, rather take an 8" +32, this will fit way better on our cars

The problem is finding rims I like that are offered in a ~30 offset. It seems everything is 45 or higher.

worst case, if you buy an 8" wheel, you can always run spacers. a 10mm spacer makes an +45 to an + 35. its not ideal, but you can get it workimg

I was thinking about the spacer and 10mm isn't that big of a change to be concerned about. Personally I rather just find another wheel that offers the better fitment.

Everyone fits RB differently. You could fit either.

I see on the wheel directory that a 17x7.5 +42 will fit on stock suspension. My question is, will fitting 205/50/17 tires (bridgestone potenzas) affect handling/speedometer significantly? Looking at a set of used rims/tires. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

about 2% more diameter, so your speedo will be -2% ( showing 98 when you drive 100)

no real affect on handling

@swarb I tried what you said with both 3 and 5 mm spacers still did not fit without rubbing. I want to keep my mpss they are 245/35 r18 but if I went down to an 18x8.5 what offset is garunteed at that wheel size? This would be my 3rd time trying to get wheels on my BRZ

What is your current setup? And where does it rub or not fit?

Well I'm back on stock now but the wheels were 18x9 +45 with 245/35r18 MPSS
Without spacers the wheel didn't clear the spring perch and rubbed the spring in the front with a 5mm spacer the tire would barely clear the perch when raised but when the car was lowered to the ground the tires didn't clear and were rubbing the springs. So the tire guy recommended to drop the offset to between 30-35 on stock suspension, is he correct? Also the wheel selection is much larger at 18x8.5 so what offset would be needed there?
