Still on the fence about the looks - not as unique as before. Thing that I don't like is the digital instrument panel. I love the current one and the previous one - why the hell did they change it!?!?!?
Anyone feel like this engine is detuned? Same stroke but bigger bore - and "only" 228hp? Plus 13.5:1 CR - seems like this thing could really do great with a tune. And E85. |

I disagree about planned volume vs sales. Planned volume follows sales...you forecast at various timeframes prior to production date and adjust as you approach that time (i.e., N-36, N-18, etc). I can tell you that sales, overall, have been somewhat disappointing post 2013/2014 but the idea of "halo", especially for Toyota, override the lackluster sales. That and much of the development costs have already been spent so they are just trying to amortize fixed costs. For the 2nd gen, expect much of the same as any other 2 door sports coupe...lots of sales the first yr or two and then trail off significantly.
The 2nd gen BRZ is pretty nice. Will have to see what they do with pricing (prob won't be for a while). And now it's Toyota's turn to see how they differentiate... |

It is not detuned for the US it is an engine built for a different purpose than the one in the Ascent. Sure the Ascent engine is turbo but it is also a low reving low compression truck engine. It would totally suck in a sports car in it's original configuration. People really need to get over this whole "they gontta keep the XXXX sales up" conspiracy theory. Different cars built for different desires. How is this so hard to understand?

Certainly excited to see the new gen. Added power is appreciated, torque peak at 3700 will certainly help as a daily driver. Not sure if it will lure me back, but a bit of my heart misses my BRZ.
Any chance my OFH will fit? |

200 whp really changes things with these cars. The high compression ratio has me concerned about ecu overreach but we'll just have to wait and see.

Although I will hold off on a final verdict until I can see one in the flesh, sit in it and test drive it I am with you. If going to buy a car today, with what we know, it would not be this one.

It's gonna take me awhile to get used to that front. Here it is in, um, red.

Why would there be overreach? The components will be a designed to work with each other. It isn't like modding where you are forcing things to go beyond their design specs.

I want to see this too. I think the current bumper makes the front end look like it’s sitting too high off the ground

Definitely holding off on this gen and probably gonna pick up a Supra in 1-2 years. Power increase is nice, and updated interior makes it somewhat modern, but that outside is horrendous.

Does it possibly still have some of the lesser features such as auto dimming headlights where that sensor is functional?
