I would expect most 17x9 wheels to interfere with stock suspension especially with a tire as wide as a 245 RE71R. (heck, that could even rub on a 17x8 depending on offset and camber) |

Yup, I've got the same issue. Just picked some up used and at -2 deg with camber bolts they won't even go on because they contact the spring perch. I got them with 245/40R17 Forcuem Hena. Previous owner said he had 3 mm of clearance with 0 camber. He got rid of them because he didn't want to run camber plates but wanted camber. I'm probably going to pull the bolts and go back to 0 camber until I get some coilovers, or I may be able to just add a big spacer.

I know this is a thread about what wheels work but is there any list out there where it states what tires work without rubbing in 245/40/17?

I think that would be a difficult list to achieve. There would be a lot of factors to consider, wheel width, offset, ride height, coilovers etc. That said, most tire manufacturers have the actual width of the tire listed on their sites. 245 width can vary between brands. In regards to the Apex ARC-8s and spring clearance; I have Continental DWS06 tires/RCE yellows and was not able to achieve more that approximately -0.2 degrees of camber before the tires were too close to the stock springs using camber bolts. Camber plates were necessary to maintain proper clearance. |

Re: stock suspension clearance of Apex ARC-8
Can you please bring this up on the thread dedicated to those wheels? The manufacturer specifically says that they've designed the wheel to be a no-brainer fit for OEM suspension. In the meantime, I'll make a note on the top post in this thread. I do however agree that +42 sounds like a pretty aggressive offset, very likely not friendly to camber bolts. FWIW, I'd expect camber plates to be required to be able to dial in any substantial camber with any 245/40 tire on any 17x9 wheel. On top of that, 245/40 on 17x9 looks like a buggy at stock height, so you might want to also lower the car, which is best done with coilovers, and then you might as well get those with adjustable camber plates. An extra re-alignment and corner balancing can cost about as much as just getting the camber plates... |

mesh style wheel aggressive fitment on performance pack brembos
I previously made a post looking to fit a mesh style wheel on the performance pack brembos, as these are my favorite wheel style. After a TON of research about the caliper size and consulting the wheel manufacturers, Aodhan gave me some confidence saying they previously cleared the 2013 STI, which were pretty similar caliper clearance to our PP brembo kit. I was determined to get this done WITHOUT spacers, which I'm happy to say worked out!
Yes it is TIGHT (1-2mm clearance at the caliper for me), but I will CONFIRM that these clear the caliper. I have ran these for almost a month now (driven ~2km) and have not had any issues with this tight of a clearance. No the camber and tire stretch is not needed, you can see I have a lot of fender clearance, so a less aggressive camber and more meaty tire is possible. Dunno if I'm the first to try and clear these kind of wheels on stock body but hope this helps others. Learned a ton about fitment over this process, it was a huge headache, but I love the result and hope others enjoy it as well. Specs: Wheels: Aodhan AH02 (white face, polished lip), 18 x 9.5, +30 offset Tires: Nankang Ns-II, 215/40/18 Suspension: BC racing coilovers (maybe 3" drop?) Camber: -4 deg front, -6.8 rear (absolutely not necessary to fit these, BC camber plates are near maxed, have camber bolts for fine adjustment, rear SPC LCA is not maxed) See more pics and fitment details here: https://www.fitmentindustries.com/wh...cing-coilovers |
