how long have your stock struts last on lowering springs?

Installing the eibach sportline springs in the next few days. just wondering how long the stock struts have lasted on these springs. it will be professionally installed and I don't track or anything just daily drive. just don't want my struts to blow and than waste money. soo how long have your springs lasted on the stock struts??

I've been asking this question many times Its been stressing me out and I don't know why so sorry if you've seen me posting a lot on this this is most likely my last time.

I've got about 35K on mine with the Eibach Pro Kit springs. No problems here.

There's two reasons lowering springs have a reputation for blowing struts.

1) Too much drop and/or too high of a spring rate.
2) People put lowering springs on 100k+ km old stock struts which are already bordering on needing replacement and they just aren't up to the task anymore. Most shock manufacturers suggest replacing them at like 80k km's (50k miles), so it's no shock that if they're at double that they'll blow easily.

If installed correctly, you should have no issues with yours.

Just to emphasize one last point, as wparsons mentions in his last sentence. Get them installed *correctly*. No big job, but people have blown struts on these cars after installing springs because they didn't keep the strut shaft from spinning when loosening and tightening the top nut on the strut. That can damage the strut.

Just to re-emphasize that last point, make sure you dont let the shaft of the strut spin! It spun just a little on one and now I'm dealing a leaky, clunky rear strut.

On my previous car i had lowering springs on from the first owner, i bought the car in 2011 with 78k miles. Unknown amount of miles with the lowering springs on, every few months or so i do the sit-on-the-car-test. At 104k eberything seems to be holding up fine. Lowering springs will slowly degrade the dampers, but not within 10k miles, more like 70k miles.

And RCE doesn't suggest running them on stock shocks because of the higher spring rates, so that's a pretty good testament to the stock shock durability.

i am planning get a coilover this summer or late this year, that is why I only got the spring for now. the stock strut actually is really good to hold with the RCE spring. I am pretty surprise.
