Im with Mike. 2 track days a month is no joke and your skills will likely improve at a pretty quick rate. I dont know of a single person that has done a track day and decided they didnt like it (but I have heard stories).

I recommend swapping pads out as well. As mike said, it is a very easy process and very easy to do. Why compromise in both situations (track and street) when you can remedy it in 30 minutes or so?

lots of ppl here love the stoptech pads im not very fond of their products because of bad experiences with my mk3 supra. im in the same boat with you im looking for pads with more bite for DD but I dont want to get a pad thatll be noisy. For an upgrade pad go with PMu NS400 or spend a bit more for Endless. Personally ill stick w/ oem until I HAVE to buy new pads im looking at a master cylinder brace.

I'd be willing to bet Austin can do all 4 pads in under 10 minutes...

NS400 are pads that we sell a lot of for DD, autox, and light track use. I wouldn't recommend them for anything past your first track day or two.

PMU NS400 + Club Racer is a popular combo that we sell, closely followed by Carbotech 1521 + XP10

All the pad spreaders I've seen are expensive as bawls.

Has anyone tried the ebc yellows on the twins? I cooked em at laguna seca on my STi but i feel like on a smaller/lighter car they would be great.

I have had a good expereince with Carbotech pads. XP10s were great on the track, and the 1521s (Bobcats) are really nice on the street.

The XP10s stay quiet if you can drive them hard all the time. The problem is that on the street you really can't. So they build up dust underneath and squeak a lot. If you don't mind sounding like a bus whenever you stop, they actually feel like stock when cold.

$10 at Vautozone. In a pinch, you can use a block of wood and a c-clamp. You don't even really need them.

I just use an old pad leveraged with a screwdriver if the caliper's coming off. If the caliper's not coming off...I get creative.

I had the EBC yellows on my Lotus Elise and VW R32. They were great on the Elise on the track. With the heavier R32, the lost a little feel/stopping power about 2/3 the way through each time I went out for a 20-30 minute session. I will probably go with them on my BRZ once I get to the brakes in my upgrades.

Once they're fully bedded, that "quiet zone" of brake pressure will get a lot larger. We street drive our BRZ with XP12, and they're silent (albeit, with slightly harder than normal braking).

However, we're completely unable to bed our XP12 + AP Racing setup on track... had to do it on a spirited downhill drive...

Stock caliper + XP10 can be easily bedded at the track; just be sure to follow the bedding instructions we include with the pads.
