Will check the manual but I was sure it said 5/30 could be used if 0/20 wasn't
available but to change it out asap.

Anyone know anything about United oils full synthetic 0/30w API SN with a
viscosity index of 162 as I can get this at a very good price but don't know
anybody who uses it here.

Mine is now supercharged so hence my interest.

the manual states
Quote:
An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds or under extreme load conditions

After analysing all, we now run 300v 5w30 in both NA and turbo applications.

Our results mimick Toyota Racing NZ, who run 5w30 in the TR86 race cars.

Stick with 0w20 if your car is mostly a street vehicle, and is NA. It will provide marginally better fuel economy. Which is essentially why it is the factory fill weight.
I have been running 0w30 on my FI for some time but I am seeing a lot of people running 5w30 on here with their turbos. I'm glad to see someone who has tested a few different kinds post. You said you analyzed all the weights I am just curious what deciding factors you utilized in order to make the switch to 5w30. Was it individually oil temp or oil pressure under heavy loads? was it the combination of the two? Did you actually notice a difference in fuel economy at all? not that for me its a concern but maybe others would like to know. Were you running 91 octane or E85 during your tests? did you do cold start tests as well and have any noticeable differences on cold mornings? just a few questions.. and if anyone else has conducted actual side by side comparison tests I would love to hear their results.

I abslolutely second this.

I would love to see the nitty gritty details of your testing!

Seriously, I am extremely curious.

Running Eneos 0w20 at the moment.
I will need to change my oil soon and I might stick with the same oil.

I've been running castrol 5w30 for probabaly 10 months now boosted on e85 with no oil cooler. When my built short block goes in and the power goes up I'll be running brad penn 5w30 for the break in 500 miles, then red line 5w30 from there out. I will be adding an oil cooler as well at that point

0w20-40 based on oil pressure. You want 10psi per 1000rpm. There is no reason to use anything with a thicker cold rating than 0, other than cost. All oils are too thick to lubricate engines effectively until they reach operating temperature.

Unless it never gets below 32* where you are and your best option for an oil only comes in 10w30
