All-New 2022 Subaru BRZ Makes Global Debut
I want to see the new exhaust manifold. I can’t get over how different it sounds.

Yeah, the autox guys seem to find a spare 400-600RPM useful, but then again they also need more frequent engine replacements. I'm just glad it's not like some cost-cutting designs where valve float starts just above redline. Makes me think the stock tune has padding for those of us who occasionally misjudge how close to redline their next downshift will put them

Yep depending on if they use their definition or the real one.

From a logical standpoint, I think it's more accurate to suggest that you can gain 20% more power from bolts ons and a tune on pump gas. We don't know how well this engine will react to the properties of e85. You'd think that you have a significant amount of headroom, but sometimes headroom for knock isn't your bottleneck. I'm excited to see, regardless; it'll be a cool new adventure and we won't already have the answers! People can buy frontpipes and intakes, who knows what mysteries they'll unravel. New intake manifold, header designs, ITBs, plenum spacers... It's like seeing the world for the first time all over again! Maybe. |

Some cars are really easy to bump up with some bolt ons. Back in my Lancer day you could easily get 30 or even 40% with a decent CAI and header with a tune to address them and run higher octane fuel. The Twins (Quads?) already have many of the things that you would normally change out to get easy gains so it is a bit rougher to get even small increases. This is a true testament to how much work they put into the engine in the first place. I think the 24 will rock people's worlds with just a flexfuel tune and some corn! Those that can't get E85 are going to have a harder time getting much out of it though no matter how many bolt ons they throw at it.

Once I figured it out, it was easy to remember: a Premium that isn't premium, and a Limited that isn't limited.

If you care about being smog legal, the FA20's main cats are the ones in the header, and can't be removed. The good news about this 2.4 is that with a 13.5 compression ratio, you can probably safely bet that with a bit of E85 mixed in the tank, a bit of timing advance will pick up noticeable power. 240hp on 95 R+M/2 fuel is my guess. |
