I already left a voicemail to the manager.

Yeah, I've had that as well. Left a broken old bike outside last week and it was gone in less than 2 hours.

On the random thought note,
I've done all the stuff for work. If it goes on ape-shit, it's not my fault and not planning to fix it til I come back (hopefully on 29th). That goes same here. I won't be modding much here, so if it goes on ape-shit, it's not my fault and not planning on fix it til I come back.

My friend once left a completely functional new bike on her 2nd floor balcony and it was gone next time she looked.

Yeah same thing would easily happen here.

I've been super lucky *knocks on wood* the past 9 years here.

I just need to make sure the movers are careful next week and close the truck every time they make a trip between it and my apartment, since it'll be parked on the street

looks like it's within tolerance to me! i would bump it further to be exactly 0.100th off, and then adjust my math appropriately. would prevent everyone else from using my tools!

of course, i've got a guy that will spend all day attempting to get 2 can lights in a 20' long ceiling to be within 1/8" of each other... when i lay it out, if they're within 6" at that distance, they're fine.

he gets this 'shocked face' look every time i re-explain to him that the drywall he's measuring off of likely fluctuates more than 1/2" from wherever he started measuring anyways.

I ordered some dial calipers this time. Hopefully not being digital will be a deterrent, not that they are that hard to read.

I hope can light dude is paid by the job and not the hour.

he's low rate hourly because of that, wants to move up the scale, but doesn't understand the efficiency translation.

i prefer the dial calipers. don't need to be zero'd in so much and i feel they're more consistent. my go-to calipers is actually a plastic non-dial one. but i was using it mostly for led modding measurements, and didn't need precision more than 0.5mm-ish.

also i hate having to deal with the battery issues with digital calipers. my brother modded a power switch onto his to help things. i usually just pull the battery, but it's a pain.

Nothing like a simple old-school Vernier caliper. Really no need for more.
