The engine and brake feel are two of the things I'm concerned about with regards to the partnership with BMW for both 2.0 and 3.0 Supra.

BMW engines (not talking about M engines) are really boring to drive. The wide torque band is great for 0-60 and allows you to use a high gear when cornering but they are not rewarding to rev out. Personally in a sports car I don't mind having a peaky power band because I want to use the top of the rev range anyways. I find the throttle response to be damped by the ECU for the sake of making the ride smoother. Worse yet the throttle response changes when the car thinks you are driving "aggressively". I would prefer the engine to behave in a consistent manner. Modern BMW turbo engines also don't sound good. Stock they are quiet and sound generic and with an exhaust they sound like a dump truck.

Like the engines, BMW brake feel is not tuned for sports cars. This includes the Brembo brakes they offer on everything. Pedal stroke is long and very light which makes it difficult when releasing the pedal during corner turn in. Otherwise the brakes work fine. Good initial bite, large rotors means more heat capacity and there are cooling ducts built into the bumper and wheel wells. I'm not bothered by the floating calipers offered on the 2.0 because it means I would not feel bad when replaced with a true track caliper kit. FR-S has much better brake feel. Toyota and Subaru really got the brake feel right which is impressive given the "economy car" brake hardware.

If you consider that way then yes... but Tada-san and other engineers made it as step-up car between 86 & 3.0 Supra. I'll be honest, ATM I rather skip that step and go directly to 3.0. Keyword is "ATM" if they can do something about it and give lil bit more love to 2.0 next year, my opinion will change... but for now, no thanks.

Def get what you mean. I get why Tada-san made Supra 2.0... at the same time, don't get why they lego'ed it this badly. Idea was there... just an execution didn't go as they planned. So I hope next year, they'll give lil bit of love to Supra 2.0 too.

Toyota Has Some Sweet Deals For The 2020 Supra, Including 0% APR

Quote:
Lease or loan?

Back in February this year, Toyota introduced the 2021 model year Supra, which gained a huge power boost. The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine under the hood now makes 382 horsepower (285 kilowatts) and 368 pound-feet (499 Newton-meters) versus 335 hp (250 kW) and 365 lb-ft (495 Nm) for the previous model year. However, if you are fine with getting the less powerful 2020 model year, you can get some killer deals for Memorial Day.

Citing “bulletins sent to dealers in nearly a dozen regions,” CarsDirect reports that you can benefit from a 0 percent APR for up to 60 months in most parts of the United States. The campaign is available for all 2020 Supras and rough estimates show that this incentive can save you more than $6,600 in interest compared to a conventional 5-year loan at 5-percent APR.

If you want to lease, Toyota will now offer you a money factor of 0.00120, which roughly equals to 2.9 percent APR. CarsDirect reports that the specific offers depend on the region but for example, there’s an offer of $509 for 36 months with $4,999 due at signing in places like New York.

Meanwhile, Toyota is also offering a huge $3,500 rebate for the 2020 Supra. However, our source calculates that a 5-year loan at 0 percent for a $50,000 car would cost $833 per month before taxes, while with the $3,500 rebate, the same car would cost $878 per month based on a loan at 5 percent.

The sports car is not the only Toyota to get a special discount for Memorial Day. The 2020 Sienna now comes with $2,877 off the MSRP but the deal applies only to the XLE FWD 8-Passenger model.

Pretty good straight-forward video review, even though it's nothing we already didn't know. Not just some shenanigans from another douchey social media influencer. Lol.

Although, he does sound a bit like the GEICO gecko.

Very interesting. And weird. Weird because he and his shop-owner friend have been the only two to come out in the last 9 months, that I know of, since this car's introduction to notice and mention this.

I've seen and read plenty of remarks regarding how "playful" the back end is, but never in the negative sense he's putting it in here. There are plenty of Supras being driven daily and on track by several probably less-experienced drivers who would've definitely have suffered through many crashes if this was a prevalent case.

I'd be curious to know if anyone here has read or heard of this before.

Thank you for sharing @Rampage

I remember reading a piece from one of the major auto magazines about them being disappointed in the way the rear end acted on bumpy mountain roads but nothing to the extent that he is saying.

It would be very useful to see actual toe curves...

I disagree with his notion that passing through zero toe is "bad". It absolutely isn't. The best setup I arrived at on my extremely bumpsteery AP1 S2000 had about 0.15 degrees static total rear toe-in, which means that it was definitely passing through zero toe under braking and turn-in. And it was much much MUCH better-behaved than when I ran it with a ton of rear toe-in which would have kept it from passing through zero.

I wonder what his toe settings are with this Supra...
