Body Shop Recommendations.

Some senile old man backed his motor home into my car and I need a new quarter panel.

Can anyone recommend a solid body shop around the Arlington area? Price doesn't matter, his insurance is covering it, I just want my car to be as close to right as it can be.

D and V in sterling is the best of the best but obviously pretty far. I have also heard good things about wagonworks.

D and V is only about half an hour from me, well worth it if they're as good as you say.

I dropped by there earlier today, seemed like a great set up. I have to talk to the insurance adjuster, but hopefully the car will be in there in the first week of December.

I had work on my front end done a month or so ago at D&V. Their paint is phenomenal, but they dont use factory clips to reattach the bumper (if youre getting any bumper work done). I have a gap between my front bumper and fenders slightly larger than from factory, and they wont do shit about it.

I know when I had to go there I specifically had to tell them to use 100% OEM parts and nothing aftermarket. Sorry that sucks but maybe a talking to the manager (Kevin or Raj) will work things out.

I'm actually having a quarter panel replaced, but I'll be sure to reiterate that I want OEM parts used. Thank you very much.

Is it normal for a body shop to ask for money up front? D and V wants $6XX (the cost of the quarter panel) before they even start.

It's normal for them to ask for up to 50% of the cost of the total repairs plus parts. However when I went to a body shop my estimator just asked for the price of the replacement parts and billed me for labor after I picked up my car.

The only thing you don't want to do is pay 90+% of the cost of the total labor and parts because it kills incentive for them to work.

I've never had a body shop ask for money up front. Especially if it is authorized insurance work.

If someone was paying out of pocket and wanted us to order parts before they drop the car off, we take a deposit on parts price only. Other than that, nothing until pickup
