Ugm, I don't see it. Completely different type of cars. Also, can't believe Toyota is referring to a "hot hatch" as a sports car.

Depends how far they go with it. The GR Yaris is also referred to as a sports car by Toyota. But that is a bespoke 3 door platform, carbon fibre roof, only body panels that it shares with the regular Yaris are the mirrors and tail lights from memory. They’re also built on a seperate production line by technicians with a minimum of 60,000 hours experience.

Sadly, even if the "special car price" does not happen, just the lack of cars dealerships have to sell will still make it go over sticker. I might have to see if my connections still work at Toyota dealerships so that I can avoid paying over. lol

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to talk to my main Toyota sales guy about it, pending details. If it's everything I'm looking for, and able to get it for msrp or close to it, I'm ready to put down a deposit.

The definition of sports cars seems to be evolving every day. Once upon a time a four seat car would never have been referred to as a sports car but now just about anything seems to go.
Four door sedan with some stuff slapped on it and a more powerful engine? Yep new sportscar.

Toyota surprised me with the fa24, I never thought it would happen due to taxes laws based on displacement.

If they give this thing 300hp so it’s power/weight lands between the CTR and old STI, fuck it, thumbs up from me. Not sure if I’d buy it, but they’ll have an admirer at least.

Papadakis racing is updating their Corolla with the gr-4 bumpers, under wraps until Friday, tease pics on Instagram.

Seems like nowadays it got diluted down to just "car look fast or car go fast = sports car!"

Yeah. The first sports car I drove was an electric golf (lol) cart back in college for my college job. Maxed out at 25mph! Sometimes 26mph if it was a windy day.

In Google ad suggestions the upcoming GR Corolla’s horsepower, torque, and other details such as aggressive styling, sport bucket seats, circuit tuned suspension, with front and rear Torsens were shown. It will have 300 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque from the 1.6l turbo paired to a 6 speed manual and the GR-Four drivetrain.
