It's just that some of it like you mentioned just doesn't make sense, and sometimes the storywriting _depends_ on it not making sense, which makes the story bad.

In Back to the Future 2 we see that trash can not only power a car but 1.21 jiggawatz (lol) to power the flux capacitor, which doesn't really make sense either. IIRC the first time Mr. Fusion is refueled it's with like scraps of banana and an empty aluminum can plus whatever liquid was still in it. Hardly realistic at all even for a futuristic fuel system.
Ah, but that's not inconsistent with the timey wimey technobabble they set up. There's nothing contradictory within that universe that says a trash can in the future can't power a car. It's just silly to us in this universe that someone would get that much power out of a trash can. Whereas in ant man they directly contradict their own statements about how the technology worked. Turns out, things are much easier to get away with when you don't explain how things work. Dr Who, for example, does an excellent job at this.
-New tech shown doing something on screen
-Straight man says: "What? That's incredible!"
-Dr/alien/future person: "...uhuh... Just press this button to use it"
-Move on.

Saw it last evening with the family (son's birthday and he wanted to go see it). It was OK, I'd rate it about the same. Honestly if Marvel plans to go down the time travel/multiverse path with the next phase, I'm not much interested. The whole quantum realm thing just doesn't do it for me. I much more enjoy SuperHero movies when they are in "real world" situations.

A good article on some of that is here. It also explains the mass doesn't stay the same, but I'm not sure that carries over into the movie universe.

That's why I hated it from the first film.
They show him hitting a tile and breaking it as if his full weight.
But then he can fly on an ant??? The keychain???
None of that shit is even touched on.

They even say in the film that your weight doesn't change just your size.
"When you're small, energy's compressed, so you have the force of a 200-pound man behind a fist a 100th of an inch wide. You're like a bullet. You punch too hard, you kill someone, too soft, it's a love tap. In other words, you have to know how to punch."

Just watched this show last week and they're suddenly confirmed to be producing a new season of it (like 7 years after it originally came out): https://deadline.com/2023/02/the-nig...on-1235269817/

IMO the first season really proved Huddleston could be a new James Bond.

This Antman was very similar thematically to Tron: Legacy, even down to the style of music used for certain similar scenes.

I haven't seen it, and I have no interest in seeing it. Every still I've seen looks like a total eyesore. I remeber people complained about Justice League because everything was CGI and orange, and a lot of Marvel movies look the same to me now. CGI landscapes, CGI characters and fight scenes. It's basically an animated movie at times.

Also modok looks like Mr. Electric from Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

I don't mind the CGI fest if it's within reason.

Like for this movie idk how else you'd film a special microscopic universe than by using a ton of CGI. What I don't like is they use that Forge technology so effing much these days and it's way more noticeable to me than classic green screen ever was. It also has its uses but they've overdone it.

I really wish they'd use more practical effects though. I'm tired of the nano bot helmets/masks for instance and in the last Black Panther movie it got so bad that in at least one scene the main character looked like she had a bobble head of her face.

I still enjoy the marvel movies for what they are, popcorn action and basically live action version of cartoons I grew up with. Not sure why anyone would expect super serious plot writing and stuff out of them.

As opposed to the rest of the Marvel movie's realistic tech?

Need to wear a superpowered magnet to prevent shrapnel from piercing the heart.
Becoming an angry green giant by being exposed to gamma rays.
Arrows that change direction.
A 100 year old dude that was frozen for decades.
And... ummm... a real Norse GOD.
That is without even touching the machine they have.

Suspension of disbelief is required for ALL Marvel or superhero in general movies not just Antman.

I don't care what they do in those movies since the very base premise is impossible so everything that follows can be or not be whatever they wish.

What pushes my suspension of disbelief to it's limits are movies like Fury.
When an entire crack Panzer Grenadier column strolls blindly down the road to be mowed down by a broken tank 'cuz USA ROCKS I tend to start yelling at the screen. That battle scene would have been about 20 seconds long as the column scouts sneak up on the tank through the forest and pop a panzerfuast into it just to be sure.
Hell there are at least two of them right in the front!

Was "Staycationing" last week, and basically it rained every day, so decided to catch up on season 2 of Clarkson's Farm. It seems like a relatively real depiction of the struggles being a small scale farmer based on my own family's experience with it in the past.

If there is a season 3, I think Jeremy may lay siege to the town council. I might be willing to go provide air cover for him.

Again, the problem with ant man is the on-screen explanation in the movie contradicts the happenings in the movie. I can suspend disbelief to enjoy all/most other Marvel movies because they are internally consistent. Banner gets angry and turns Hulk. He doesn't suddenly get angry and turn into a wimpy dude without it being a big deal. That would be different. Why's it different? It would be a plot point that it is different.

In ant man they literally explain the resulting effect of this strange technology, then half of what happens with it directly contradicts the premise. You can't carry the mass of a tank on a keychain. If it had a low enough mass to be carried on a key chain, it wouldn't be able to bust through a wall or whatever. Among other situations. But they just treat it like that was normal.

I also enjoyed it. I think he really does like running the farm and farming in general. That being said, we are only really getting his side of the story on the council piece.

I've read some side reporting on it from independent press and it seems to be pretty legitimate grievance on his part.

season 2 really left me with mixed feelings.

clarkson is a unique character. that's why we watch him. but i think there's a lot to the stories he tells that are one-sided, or edited to make things appear differently than reality.

i don't doubt that the city council might be out to get him, but i suspect that despite the shows leanings towards recent events being the effect, it's more likely to do with clarkson as a person from many many years ago finally just coming to a head.

Yea, I agree. I'm sure it goes back a ways, and Jeremy is partially to blame.
It already looks like Amazon cancelled the show after Season 3 (filming this year) because of something Clarkson wrote about Meghan Markle.

Also probably doesn't help that his farm is in some type of protected zone. Then again, apparently a couple of miles from him in the same zone, but a different planning board, a similar farm has basically built an entire complex including a Whole Foods organic store, a restuarant and a day care center. Unfortunately I couldn't find the article again.
