Ok, I am to the point in the install where I mount the concealed display but have no clue about how to get the 'cubby hole' [sorry for the technical term, I don't know what Scion actually calls this thing] out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Arvid

I hate for this to be my first post but....
I made my own invisicord/wire/dealio. I have a BRZ WITHOUT the auto dimming mirror. I tested the newly made cord on my dome light and it was successful..when i opened the door. This made me chuckle but now I am trying to tap into the cable for the auto dimming mirror. No luck with powering the radar. I tested to see if the there was a current. Nothing. I am not an electrically inclined so I know I might be overlooking something.

ADD Version:
BRZ without auto dimming mirror/homelink
Radar is Beltronics V10
Trying to get power though dome light

I am not either so I went the easiest route and not cut anything. I got this cord.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006G1PHLY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com : Long Power Cord for Beltronics / Escort / V1 Radar Detectors : Valentine One Cable : Car Electronics[/ame]

Ran the cord to the cigarette lighter in the glove compartment. This took all of 5 minutes. Its clean, easy, and no messing with wires hahaha

It's easy if you have that auto dimming mirror. If you have a stock mirror, upgrade or get the long cable on Amazon.

I'm pretty sure the connector for the powered mirror is there regardless of whether or not your mirror is actually powered. So even without the powered mirror you can still use this DIY.

Just some clarification for those FR-S users that don't have the auto dimming mirror or even if you do, you can make the connections on the male (car side) and not the mirror side.

I bought my direct wire cable from ebay for $8.95 with inline fuse
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Escort-Radar...item2c7252d817

find the mirror connection cable to right once you remove the light housing
mine was taped down (I guess to prevent noise)

turn the now loose mirror cable so that the gray wire is on the left...

feed the red wire into the left slot where the gray wire is... feed the black wire from the direct wire cable into the middle slot of the mirror power where the black wire is.

When you feed the wires in depending on how you do this they should be snug so it may take a few attempts.

I secured it using a rubber band, you might want to use a small tie wrap or electrical tape. That way when you tug on the cord when moving your radar connector these connections won't come loose.

Result:

Just wired up an x50 with these instructions. worked perfect. thanks!

I am having the same problem with mine! I had originally wired it to the dome light and of course it worked with the 12V constant but when i try to wire it in through the rear view mirror i have nothing. It has no power going to it and im trying to figure out where the missing connection is. Is there a separate fuse for the Homelink Mirror? I want to keep from having to run wires all through the car and this would be great if i could figure it out!

I am NOT responsible for any modification you do to your own car! I am just showing how I modified mine

First off you need to order a product called 'Invisicord' - http://www.invisicord.com/order.html (Check the installation page to see if your radar detector is supported). I ordered a 12" cable without fuse which I thought would be long enough but it barely was. I would highly recommend ordering at least a 16" cable.

Here is what it looks like (Picture credit - Invisicord)

1 - Start off by removing the dome light fixture

2 - Unplug cord running to dome light

3 - View of what stock wiring to auto dimming mirror looks like

4 - View of stock harness for auto dimming mirror above dome light (I already have the Invisicord wired in photos)

5 - This is the connector you are looking for (front view)

6 - Plugin the prongs from the Invisicord as pictured (RED wire bottom right, GREEN wire bottom center) Look how I am holding the piece so you don't do the inverse of my directions -

7 - Simply plug everything back in and tuck the harness the furthest away from the windshield and on the driver side -

8 - Reconnect the dome light wiring and put it back in position -

9 - DONE!!

If done properly your radar detector should now turn on when the vehicle is started and power down when you turn your car off. Best of luck!
Thank you! I followed these directions and it worked perfectly. Took me 1-2 minutes and I was done. My installation is superbly clean now and i coupled it with this mount.
