The other night I went to Yayoi (a Japanese family restaurant, at least in Japan). I had a taishoken with some pork katsu, a shrimp katsu, some beef, and egg simmered in a sauce along with pickled stuff and rice/miso soup. So good.

I was chatting with a couple friends in Japan after this and they were saying the same meal costs only like $10-15 there. For me it was $25 (+ $6 for a beer).

That's pretty expensive for that meal...

Also, I think we are going to try making katsu next weekend...

I'd say for what it is and that it beats a lot of other local Japanese places, it's expensive within reason. I would've preferred more like $15-20 but in general the area is expensive for food.
