I'm about to choose my 2017 accessories...

So, I'm about to buy a 2017 BRZ (previously owned a 2016 BRZ).

My 2016 had an STI front lip, STI spoiler, tower bar, draw stiffener, STI start button, Duracon knob, Short shift assembly. It looked awesome!

I want my car to look badass, and drive badass I can't go RB Kit because Australia is a backwater when it comes to car modification laws.

I'll hopefully go some coilovers and fat ass 18x9s (either te37, ze40 or rs05rr) so not really interested in the wheels/springs that the factory offers.

Currently my "must haves" are going to be the STI start button, Duracon + short shift assembly.

I'm guessing there are better/cheaper alternatives to the body kit, and towerbars. Is this correct?

Which factory accessories are worthy?

Basically not interested in the things like carpets and whatnot... so we have an option for...
  • front under spoiler
  • rear under spoiler
  • rear side under spoiler
  • boot lip spoiler (this thing looks awesome)
  • flexible tower bar
  • flexible draw stiffener
  • coil spring set front
  • coil spring set rear
  • ENKEI alloy wheels
  • push start engine switch
  • gear shift lever assembly
  • duracon shift knob
  • rear under diffuser
  • BRZ 'S' badge (hah whatever that means)

I can get the above for about $7k (about $5k usd), but hopefully a bit less if I took the wheels and springs out of it. The factory stuff is very costly.

So basically, I guess I'm asking if I should go aftermarket with the body kit and/or gearshift stuff... and tower braces, and just buy a basic car. Is the aftermarket stuff the same quality? What do you guys run?

Wow, looking at the website you guys get great option choices.

I would get the "Driver's Pack" and "Styling Pack" from the dealer.

Wheels and suspension bits you can do better in the aftermarket.

Thanks! I forgot. So many crashed they have all blended together in my memory.

Well all the cosmetic stuff is purely subjective to taste so you are on your own there.
The only comment I would make on that list is that if the shifter they are talking about is the TRD short shift (or Subaru equivalent) I would shy away from it. There are a raft of issues with them mentioned throughout this forum. Of course there are others that love them and had no issues so...

I did stumble on a reddit comment from CSG_Mike from a while back that said to pretty much ONLY get the short shift and ignore the rest of the accessories.

LOL Opinions may differ! That is why cosmetic stuff is totally up to you and input means nothing.

It may not be the one that people have issues with but is worth checking out.

Yeah, but it's hard work justifying $5k-$7k of extra bits that just look nice . Input = piece of mind and things to think on!

Thanks for yours!

Damn they have great accessories to pick from! Wish we had the easy catalog here and didn't have to special order them in the US.

Neither do we! We do get heated mirrors and mudflaps as stock though.
