I think Mercedes would be to worried about Lewis and Max taking each other out. I think they would want a solid #2, or a young talent that may emerge around the time Lewis is ready to leave.

Gonna throw my hat in the ring and say Bottas.

I don't think Wehrlein has really justified a seat in the best team. Only 1 year of experience, and didn't really dominate his teammates -- at best he fared slightly better than Haryanto.

Alonso or Ricciardo are what I would most love to watch, but realistically speaking Toto doesn't seem to have the stomach for contract-related drama.

Looks like Merc is pursuing Bottas, but Williams wants a good chunk of money and an experienced driver to pair with their new rookie.

Talk is about un-retiring Massa (apparently he only retired because it looked like he was out at Williams and couldn't line up another quality drive) but I think Button is more likely to be in a Williams next year. I remember other rumors about a return to Williams for a swan song...

Then again who knows how tight Mclaren wants to hold onto him, guess it depends how confident they are in their rookie. There's a chance he gets called up to sit in Macca's seat, I still remember the year Ferrari had to replace Massa, not pretty for awhile there.

Button seemed pretty burned out, doubt he's actually interested in racing. Whereas "Macca" said he wanted to race somewhere in 2017.

Would love to see Vergne get another chance.

I thought I heard that they'll be new chassis rules next year,, much wider cars. Any pics of the 2017 cars as of yet??

There are some artist renderings out there, yet the official cars from the teams will not be seen till February or when pre-season testing begins.

"Macca" in that context meant Mclaren in case their rookie didn't pan out.

But, Mercedes made the obvious choice, Hamilton gets paired with another Finn it will be interesting to see if Bottas lives up to his new teammate.

We have long been supporters of Bottas, I am happy for him, but sad to see him leave Williams. At least now he should have a good car and we will be able to see his real potential as a driver.
