Different intake hose shape
I saw that aftermarket intake hoses are available in different shapes. Some, like Mishimoto, have the same shape of genuine, some, like Greddy, Perrin and R Magic in particolar, have different bendings and bigger volume. I think they act like a plenum chamber, and they say they improve throttle response.
What do you think? Last edited by gpvecchi; 08-14-2022 at 05:00 AM. |

I doubt they provide any noticeable difference. I have a Perrin intake that I got mainly to get rid of the sound tube and it had zero impact on how the car feels.

I have the Greddy, and I noticed an improvement in response, in particular at low revs, comparing to stock hose with closed sound tube.

Absolutely not placebo. I'm sensitive. Not everybody needs a turbo to feel the differences.

The Mishimoto inlet tube did make a slight difference for me with throttle response.
Looks to be a repeatable slight improvement to performance —> https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...1&postcount=13 |

I'd also like to see the dyno, for, reasons. Curious if it is 2hp across, or just up top in higher RPM.

Your throttle body opening remains the same. Your throttle plate doesn't all of a sudden open more because there is a different tube. You are not moving any more air through the engine because you have a different shaped tube. Exactly how was tis "slight response" measured? "I can feel it" in not an answer.

I did say slight, it’s not like it turns it into a Hellcat. I was sceptical about any performance gains and did it mainly to clean up the engine bay. I was pleasantly surprised after I took it for a drive afterwards. I’d say it feels more “peppy”, throttle response more immediate. Like the car had a coffee shot, lol. Bear in mind my car is a ‘13, so pre-facelift version, which I believe has the less efficient intake design.
