Perceived power decrease as engine/oil temp raises
I've been noticing this for over a year now with my JRSC.
There seems to be no correlation with outside temps or driving style. Street use only. Tuned by Delicious Tuning. Using 5w30 oil. Lets say I've been driving for 10 minutes. The car is pretty warmed up. If I give it some throttle it really wants to go. Now 30 minutes goes by, the engine/oil temp is where it normally sits (about in the middle of the stock gauges), I give it some throttle and it wants to go slightly less. Also more noticeable on the highway. Sorry about the lack of description/numbers. I just can't figure out why it seems to feel like this. Is it just me? Is it something with the temps? Is it something with the tune or computer that's slowing it down? Maybe somebody else has experienced something similar. Any help/brainstorming is appreciated! |

Could be your intake temps being elevated. Or you'll run slightly richer the cooler the engine is. So you might make slightly better power then. I'm not sure how you are tuned or what your temps look like

Interesting idea. The only thing I do with the tune is log it haha so neither do I. But the temps seem to be all normal. I can run this by my brother, hes a mechanic. Thanks!

Sounds like heat soak. Check Intake Air Temperature (IAT) and if the engine is pulling timing. Might need more engine bay cooling/ventilation if you want to avoid that

doesn t really make sense, this car goes faster the leaner is, with the same ignition timing... so that s probably something that makes it richer and maybe lowers ignition timinga as the temp raise

This will be the issue. Under hood temps after the car is fully warmed have climbed. Any car will always run better when the IAT is cool and the charge is dense.
