Quick Google search 4 years later and I found some

I found a place that is offering louvers for the 86, link below

https://www.nengun.com/trd/rear-window-louver

Curious if anyone has gotten these or any other louvers that are practical and are decent. I happen to like the look but I want to be able to take them off without a ton of hassle if I wanted.

Quote from that website about the louvers:

"Attaches to the rear window using special brackets and double sided tape (supplied). Two brackets bolt to the trunk hinges for attachment on the lower corners."

I'm not really interested in buying an exterior thing that uses double sided tape to install. (except the sharkfin antenna). Double sided tape = fail without warning and it's not easy to remove or reinstall.

Anyone have any more updates to this topic?

These are the TRD ones offered in Japan. Several folks on here have them installed, and there are some threads on them. Those that have them seem pretty happy with them.

Hmm I didn't see those threads before. Thanks for the heads up I'll check them out.

With shipping to Canada, duty, taxes and fees a grand total of $2246! Will pass again.

How are you planning to attach one without double sided tape? These do not take the brunt of the wind and would be fine with tape anyway. Now a wing...

@DandoX and @Tcoat -- if you are interested, they can be found for less over at Japanparts.

It does have one hard point connection I believe on the lower end (connects under the trunk lid somewhere if I remember from the thread that shows the instruction sheet. I like the way it attaches because it doesn't require any drilling into the body like the old school ones from the 70's/80's would have.

The downside is there is no hinge for cleaning you have to remove it through the attach points.

Damn got excited that maybe after all these years a cheaper option has been found. Nope still $800...can't do it.

Looks like with this one there is no other option, the cheaper link below is priced better
"Thanks to asdf"

I'm not sure how/if louvers will do with snow and getting caked on there.

Here in California it seems well suited, I think I will plan on getting this despite the double sided tape not being the best attachment method. I do like not having to drill into the body. So when I can afford it and after my other planned purchases I will seriously give this some consideration.

Louvers is a pretty unique word so you should be able to search the thread titles and pull them up.
