GT86 featured in latest GT5 seasonal event (Tsukuba + Madrid City, ending 09.02)
Just read that GT86 fans now have their own official seasonal events!
Time trial on Tsukuba! Drift trial on Madrid City! This is very special, and we are very lucky because they limited the challenge to the 86 only. PD also put the car on normal tires, and limited the car to its original weight in terms of power and weight on the time trial. Unfortunately, they did not limit to stock car or use PP limit. So all the good times will be in "torque tuned/downtuned" cars" with modified drivetrain. As far as I know, this is the first time in a "normal" seasonal event where everbody is forced to drive in the same car. (except some special events) And we get two different events in the 86! Hope I will be able to participate. Having a longer break from GT5 due to my ancle not liking my brake pedal position anymore.. :p Id guess this is a one time opportunity to participate in! Period of availability: 26.01-09.02 EDIT: Added LEADERBOARDS! http://eu.gran-turismo.com/au/produc...nt/d40645.html http://eu.gran-turismo.com/au/produc...nt/d40717.html Last edited by RaceR; 01-26-2012 at 07:52 AM. |

Download the replay to one of the top guys.
samurai_405 just had 1. place. using DS3. (got beaten a little while ago) Learn his line, brake points and check out his brake and throttle input. The main thing is driver skills! Use time to learn the track and the car... If still problems, just tune the car to max and use engine downtuning so that you match the hp limit. Otherwise drivetrain/suspension stuff.... You could play with weight balance too if you want.. (removing weight, and adding ballast where u want) |

I never use a DS3. So I am not familiar driving with it, and will not be up to my normal pace without alot of practice.
But need a break from my pedals due to my ancle, so tried to DS3 out to get back into GT5. Did a 1.12.5xx in a bone stock 86 without that many tries.. Last corner was not good, and with skills it can be probably be done in 1.11.5xx. Alien fast people should knock of about 0,5-0,7 sec on that again with skills (doing high 1.10), so the tuning will probably knock of about 1,5 sec compared to a stock car I would guess based on the best times... I will not bother more with a bone stock car, gonna try out to max out my time now and fiddle with some tuning... When I tried tuning the stock GT86 for Nordschleife, ( own thread on this forum) I noticed that gear ratios was the "main secret" too. Atleast it did more than I would think. Here is my post, it made wonders for such an easy tune... And I only adjusted max speed there. I will see if if has a big effect here too. Low speed track compared to gearbox says it will. HP curve after tuning says not... For the record, you get about 10pp extra with engine "torque/downtuning" trick.. |

Well, I've been attempting it tonight with a few different set-ups and I just can't seem to break under 1:13. I was just driving my fully tuned 86 GT and managed to edge down to 1:13.008. I haven't messed much with the camber and toe in the suspension on that car, just lowered it and stiffened the springs, dropped a level of anti-roll bar. I've changed the set-up now, but I'm sore from driving for so long, so I'm going to give it a rest and try again tomorrow! I also only have the 6-speed close-ratio transmission in the car, the fully-customizable confuses me too much, I'm not sure where to set it.

Was able to do a 1:10.814 and ranked 474th at the time. I'm not very good at tuning the car but the transmission tune I did made a huge difference. I didn't change individual gear ratios but changed the final drive to the shortest ratio. Hope that will help somebody out. Good luck guys.

The tire restriction is very annoying. If this is how the stock tires handle I will be upgrading them. I know some people like sliding around corners but I much prefer gripping them.
