Ok definitly sounds like limp mode, however that mode is usually trigfered by a fault in one or more of the cars systems and that generally trigfers some error codes in ECU and some dash lights like trac/vsc steering or CEL

if you got none of those lights im guessing is due to a tuje feature like launch or flat foot shift triggering or the tune itself has a rev limit mode that active, hence no associated cel lights

My tuner, unbeknownst to me, enabled flat foot shifting. When driving, engine would not rev. Sometimes 4500, sometimes 5500. Data logs showed the ign timing would drop to 0* It was fine at lower rpms and it worked perfectly when the tuner drove it.

@AussieBRZ may be on the right track. Another Aussie genius, @steve99, suggested fft was enabled. The next time I drove the car, I noticed that I would unconsciously, very lightly, rest my foot on the clutch before shifting. When I kept my foot off the pedal, it revved to 7300. The tuner disabled fft and my car and I are living happily ever after.

The disable switch is very sensitive. It will turn off the cruise control with even the slightest pressure on the clutch.

Check that you are not touching the clutch. If that's ruled out check the clutch pedal switch.

That is pretty odd, everything on a pre-facelift car should interchange. Does it run fine otherwise?

Without being able to see the live data, I don't think we are going to be able to help. You need a shop with a way to look at the live data via something like techstream.

Not likely.

It's the same on pre facelift cars. Didn't change until 17'+. The early cars can't read the facelift reluctor and vise vera.

You might want to switch your log to Datazap.me.

So we have still not got anywhere on this thing, found that techstream says that it needs an ecu update. Took it to dealer they said it needed it but it kept failing when they were trying to do it. Found in one of these posts that supposedly the ecu writes exhaust cam gear info on initial startup after reflash. If that's so do you guys think that my car is looking for the old cam gears?
