I'm relatively new to the car, I didn't own a 1st gen, please forgive me if this has been covered already. Do people generally put their stock exhausts back on if taking the car to be serviced at their Subaru dealerships? The warranty language is a bit confusing, I know the general consensus seems to be that catback exhausts don't void warranties unless proven directly responsible for damage - just wondering what people generally do when going to dealership with an after market catback. I have an HKS Hi Power Spec L2 1st gen.

No need to swap back to stock catback for dealership service.
That being said, I suggest finding a qualified and reputable local independent Subaru specialist to take your prized BRZ to, versus the dealership where the lube tech likely can't even drive stick.

Got the Revel (Tanabe) Medallion S catback on the BRZ. Around $540 with a coupon from an online vendor. It's the first gen part number, bolts right up for our cars without any issue. Sounds good - you get the crackles and pops on downshift with the help of a little throttle blip. Weighs 22 lbs (measured factory at 35)

Given you are in LA, I'm going to guess they had easy legal recourse, so at least they talked to you and didn't just call 911 I guess...
