Both sets last a long time cuz they only get used half the year.
My stack of winter tires on their inexpensive Tire Rack alloy wheels takes up a small corner in my garage.
You mark which spot each came off so when you re-install you're accomplishing a tire rotation.
In winter you get to do drifts around town legally, silently, and without tire wear.

Nice! I didn’t think of the added bonus of cheap drifting around town in the snow.

I am considering purchasing a set of 4 wheels through TireRack for the summer tires. My research indicates 18 x 7.5 for a Limited automatic. However TireRack does not have that size available. Can you help me out with some suggestions or alternatives?

Thanks!
Picking up the Conti’s this weekend. I would like to purchase a 2nd set of wheels for these tires, hopefully SIMILAR to the OEMs but prefer not to pay the exorbitant price of close to $400 per wheel thru Subaru parts. Again, need your input! (I will not be modifying the BRZ)

How about just identical in size and offset and close in weight?. Looks don't matter to me and quality is a non-issue so long as they don't break. I've never broken a car wheel.

If your annual mileage is low, there's an argument for going with all seasons if it's safe to do so: Splitting that mileage between 2 sets of tires increases the likelihood your tire rubber will age out well before these tires need replacement due to tread wear. That will have a significant negative impact on your average annual running costs. I have that problem even with my all seasons since I don't commute.

I have this problem with my truck that stays outside but my STi stayed in a heated garage and my tires seemed fine for the 12 years I had them. I put about 30,000 miles on the car, split between its all-season and winter tires.

Continental DWS 06 Plus is their newest generation.

Try the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 too if you don't mind spending a little extra.

Costco has Velox wheels (Blade version looks nice), 17” x 7.5 for about $210 each. They didn’t have the 2022 model listed, but the 2020 model shows these. Offset is +40, not sure how this compares to the 2022 or if it even matters.

I’m thinking of pairing these with the 17” Conti’s for my cold weather setup, leaving the 18” Pilot Sport 4 on the OEM rim for the spring/summer.

spend a bit more for something lighter? rpf1s are about 250/ea or konig/enkeis around 200-225/ea

This seems to be a popular take but I'd think it matters significantly. Tire/fender clearance. Turning geometry. Heck, suspension geometry in general.

I am curious; is the weight of the OEM wheels on the 2022+ yet known, especially compared to the RFP01? And I guess this implies TWO answers, one for 17” and one for 18”?

Going the opposite of all-season — sorry — our plan is continue to have two sets of wheels/tires on this car as previous ones. If the car comes with “good” summer tires, we could move them over to a set of RFP01’s (had a set on an Acura RSX-S, my wife liked the look) and mount snow tires on the OEM wheels. Alternatively, if the OEM wheels are light & strong, we can buy a cheap set of alloys for snow tire use (snow tire season is 10 weeks… if that); right now we have two cars with snow tires on Tire Rack’s cheap alloys, does not seem a problem.

That said, a car bought in the summer of 2023 and kept, as planned, for 15 years — means that I’ll be changing tires twice a year on it at age 82 (OUCH!) And with me retired and my wife’s commute of 2.25 miles for a couple more years, and works at NASA where they close the place at the first hint of snow, we could possibly afford to skip “serious” snow tires and wait for any of the white stuff to melt. All presuming that Maryland does not become sub-tropical anyway.

they're not yet known but its really uncommon for OEM wheels to be anything remotely light.

I think the BBS wheels that came on my '04 STi were pretty light. Noticeably lighter than the cheap Tire Rack alloys I put snow tires on. I guess those were "fancier" stock alloys than the twins get though.
