FR-S OEM Fog Light Question

Hey everyone, thinking about getting the OEM set of fog lights for my FR-S. I think the part number is PT413-18130 for the entire kit. In the pictures these seem to come with halogen bulbs, does anyone know if one can simply swap in HID or LED bulbs? Can anyone who has these fogs weigh in? Thanks!

I installed mine maybe a month ago. I didn't check to see if the bulbs were easily changed out, but iirc the light 'housing' is pretty solid. I don't remember seeing screws or anything to take off the backing; just the 3 mounting holes for the supplied screws. Mine are white and match my headlights. Check the link in my signature for some pictures.

Thanks but I think your fogs are different due to your 2017 86 having a different bumper than the FR-S

I have the oem fog lights installed on my car and I'm pretty sure they're either a twist or clip in bulb. I remember trying to change them out and it was pretty easy. They take the same bulb as the stock halogen headlights. The part diagram and instructions should be on this site somewhere.

I was thinking of getting the non-oem fogs and installing them... are they worth it?

HID's on fogs will be insanely bright and blinding for other drives. Why don't you just put a higher halogen? i have a 4300k yellow halogen and its just perfect, not too bright and not too blinding.

The set I have hooks into all the existing wiring and even includes the oem type button and holder to replace the two button holder (with the trunk release) on the dash. I got it for Christmas and haven't installed it yet but from every appearance it is as good as the oem stuff at a fraction of the price. Of course that opinion could change once I actually get them in.

I will have to look when I am home. The wife just picked a random mid price range set off Ebay without my knowledge. When I opened the gift I thought "oh here we go with some cheap ass Ebay knockoff crap" but I was very pleasantly surprised when I started checking out the components. As I said I haven't installed yet though so appearances could be deceiving.

Edit - About 98% sure this is the set here actually:

I got a pair of the oem hid headlights and I just wanted them to match. I guess it's more of a cosmetic desire but one could argue that brighter fog lights would be more useful when the weather conditions are nasty. But tbh I was considering LEDs because they'll last long and use less power.

Won't be put in until it is warm enough to work with the plastic parts without risking breaking them. I learned the hard way many years ago not to try to do things involving plastic clips when it is cold out. I really could not find any difference between them and the OEM ones I was looking at at the dealers.

It's spring and pretty cool here too - like in the 80's cool...

On the topic of fog lights, I want to put some on mine, the actual light units I'm thinking of using is these (dont laugh at the name T-coat!....)

https://www.bajadesigns.com/products...ring-amber.asp

They have a mounting bracket for the FR-S...
