Ok, I can't remember if I asked this before, but what is everyone's favorite garage ceiling material? My garage is insulated for some reason (no ac/heat ... yet?), and the walls are drywalled and painted. There is just insulation bags between the joists and furring strips up top. Yes, I could just drywall and paint, but that is a lot of work for a garage IMO.

Also, I have no idea what I am doing.

Drywall. It's to code and good for fire reasons. Also cheap, relatively speaking.

Is there living space above your garage? If so that's likely the reason it's insulated. Makes a big difference if it's not.

As far as what to use, I agree with @cjd. Drywall is probably best.

There is not. There's an attic of sorts, but that's just storage space

My parents actually said the same thing when I spoke with them about it. Drywall it is then...

Personally, I like cement board or fiberglass-backed gypsum with vinyl surface treatments for garages and basements. No organic material to support mold growth.

Garage
Code now requires even the attic access, being just a panel or a pull down ladder, also be drywall for fire barrier.

a summary of the weekend of camping. the 4 year old comes running back up to me with that stupid "i did something i can't wait to tell everyone about that i shouldn't be doing in the first place" grin, and says "i touched your car!":

also visited my favorite grocery store. e&s sales. cash-only, and almost nothing about it exists on the internet, but it's worth the trip, if not for the pedal car collection, at least the bulk containers of food items, from mac-n-cheese cheese powder to a 2-pound bag of dehydrated marshmallows like those in lucky charms(poop green for a week!):

this is literally the only link i can find on the internet acknowledging the collection even exists. which is disappointing, as i really wanted to know more about the history behind some of them...

But what if I don't set my garage on fire?
