Yes. It is power steering cutout or you may be running to low or too soft of suspension setup and you are hitting your fender liner with the tire. That 2-3 section is high loads.

No tire scraps on the fenders (8kg/9kg monosports, 245/40/17)

Is there any way to reduce the PS cut? It's not super heavy, just kinda freaked me out a bit when it cut during a slide up the hill.

Not that I am aware of. It’s some kind of high load protection for the eps motor.

apparently the new re-surfacing at the Ridge is super grippy!! Buddy who went to a 2fast day over the weekend said it felt crazy fast!

Yeah it is - it was my first time out there (and first trackday for the brz!) and I was running a 1.59.xx.

It’s about 2 seconds is what the general consensus. The curb transitions are also much smoother.

I'l be out at the ridge next weekend. Currently registered for the Audi weekend both days. but thinking of doing a 3 day weekend and sign up for HOD as well on Friday.

I'll be back at the Ridge end of may on 2 wheels with TrackTime

Anyone doing alignments at the track? I know my alignment is out after attacking the curbs at PIR and ORP this past weekend.

I'm looking for guidance on what to buy to do my own alignments. I don't have the budget for scales. I'm typically maxed out on camber, so mostly need to check and adjust toe after a day of 40 minutes per hour, all day, running hard on track.

One on topic note: Exit of 13 at the Ridge, those alligators are STILL very harsh.

All the other Ridge curbing is benign.

I carry longacre alignment plates. I usually check toe on my car the night before but have had to adjust it before at the ridge. Camber effects toe and vice versa so it is pretty tough to do a full alignment at home. @rice_classic probably has more insight on this then I.

Front toe doesn't change very much at all when you change camber, fwiw. I went from 2.5* to 4.5* on the alignment rack and the toe barely changed. I take out camber for long transits in my autocross car (Vegas, Crow's Landing, Fontana) and I wanted to see how bad the toe was changing -- it's negligible.

Yes, at Road America I had to reset my alignment 4 times and I only ever do my own alignment in the garage (or the track).

Here's the easy button and you don't need scales unless you're corner balancing. Getting on level ground is helpful for doing camber unless you have an electronic gauge that can be reset to "zero" at any angle.

To establish level - I recommend buying a 360 Laser level on Amazon like this one:

Then you can put planks/boards/shims whatever under each tire to level. This allows you to easily check camber with bubble gauge like the one I have from Longacre

For front toe, the toe plates are the super easy button.

For the rear toe - since they are not connected by a rack, the toe plates aren't an ideal tool.

Rear Toe: Measure track width of the front and then measure the track width of the rear to get total difference and then divide by 2 - this is the amount you need to space the string off the front tire in order to properly set the rear.

EXAMPLE:
My rear track width is exactly 7/8th inch total wider than my front (7/16ths per side). So what I do is wrap a string around the car, set the front tire straight ahead and perfectly equal and then put 7/16ths spacer between the string and the front of the front tire AND THEN I have a accurate way to measure and set rear toe. It works PERFECT.


My car is currently level on scales with a string wrapped around it as I type this so I can facetime you this evening if you need a better visual explanation.
