You know what, it's winter now. Some animals might hide around your car to warm themselves. Some might hide in your wheel gap. When you drive the car and the wheel rotate, you might hurt them. Dr. JK. Bullsh, a researcher from American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), suggest american citizens to either change a louder exhaust to scare these small animals away or lower the car to kill the fender gap in order to not accidentally injure them. .

If there's a permanent "gap" there she has other issues. Perhaps she needs to stop using it to warm her coffee travel mug. LOL

I think the reason boy racers care about the wheel gap is that the look implies "racecar". Unfortunately in may cases the feel implies "back ache".
A real race car wants less lean and a lowered CoG, but the majority of wheel gap Nazis don't race so that's irrelevant to them. Same line of thought as the line of performance manufacturer's stickers down the back window. I think that at a certain age, *most* people are less likely to go for that stuff. That is unless it is really a track optimized car or the stickers are actually paying sponsors.

LOL, I drove a lowered car for about 8 years and it took me a while to change the way I drove over obstacles. I am much happier not having to worry about it anymore.

I have about 16 years worth and have no intention of changing back. None were exactly slammed or anything but 3 to 3.5 inches clearance is pretty much what I have become accustomed to.

In that case, its a gimmick 99% of the time. A real racecar doesn't have a lot of suspension articulation but their suspensions are designed/optimized for this from the get go. They also have other things helping them that road cars lack like serious aero packages pushing them down and very wide tires. A street going sports car needs to have a certain amount of suspension flex and there is a point that is reached where you have lowered it too much and you've actually made its handling less capable even though you've lowered the COG. Not to mention you took that wonderfully engineered suspension geometry and moved it out of its optimal area of operation when you lowered it and put those adjustable arms on. That is, if you put adjustable arms on to begin with rather than going without and ruining it even more. |

The old 76 Pacer blew both rear shocks so we drove it around on just the springs. When both springs broke I jacked it up and clamped a chunk of 4X4 pine in between the axle and the body. Was good for 6 more months until the driveshaft fell out and we just took the plates off on the side of the road and rode a bus home.
