Dyno Tune JDL and HKS Kits

Had 2 friends with different setups come in for E50 tunes on their Gen1 cars. A nice compare and contrast of the setups.

Iirc, Mr Tsuchiya will put the HKS kit. He was back and forth about if supercharger or turbo.

Would love to baby turbo my first gen It just needs a small bump in power and a nice small efficient turbo would be perfect.

You want to get something that is efficient and keep boost low. This will help with maintaining low temperatures on track.

Seems like the JDL kit could just bump the boost pressure up, assuming it is more about that and less about efficiency.

The JDL car did have a boost controller and EWG - HKS was spring pressure. Yes boost could have gone up. We ended up with similar boost levels on both cars.

Does one kit seem better suited for the track over another ?

superchargers will be better at the track. better heat management and if you get a kit that feels like a large V6 and provides a flat predictable power curve

The two kits in the video were turbo kits. Was just wondering if one of those kits seemed better built for track usage over the other.

Id say the JDL kit is more suited for track over the HKS kit. Only because the HKS manifold quality is not the greatest. I'm actually in the process of getting mine custom fabricated with JDL lol. I have the HKS kit and it will see track at least 3/4 times a year once everything is installed.
