Very good cam for discreetness and quality at it's price point! I was looking at this while shopping for the GC. I think it's smaller too.

Price: Weird pricing on Amazon. If you buy there, get the model that comes with 32gb sd card. Enough for 4 hours of looped recording.

If the price is a bit too high, you *can* go with the B40/A118 but older chipset and lens (not as high quality recordings, night shots are horrid imo.) Buy from a seller named Spy Tec on Amazon. There are better quality cams in this price point however.

I have a buddy that has been using his GoPro Session as a dashcam. I wonder if that's a better option at $199.

Decided to order one. Came to 125 CAD shipped with a 32GB Micro SD. Figured its worth a shot!

The thing I like about dashcams is the "set it and forget it" idea. If youre good with turning on your camera and pressing record every trip you make, then hell, a gopro session would be a great idea!

My opinion so take it however you see fit: GoPros should be used as action cams and not dedicated dashcams. I love the "set it and forget it" nature of dashcams, the discrete/small form factor types amply that (also the ones that don't have silver/chrome around the housing and lens).

If I recall correctly, GoPros also run hot. Most dashcams, at least mine, run warm, if that. Do whatever you want man!

There's a dashcam youtube channel I watch where this guy is using his old Galaxy S3 as a dash cam with a phone mount. If you got an old phone laying around, you can always try that. Also saves you money for car parts!

The reason I would want a GoPro is because I can use it at the track as well. But some of those $80 dash cam options are very reasonable. It wouldn't hurt to have both. The videos in this thread are very convincing.

Your opinion is definitely considered. I'm new to both dashcams and GoPro so I'm all ears. Thanks for the tips.

Yup! And if you don't like it, that's what returns are for!

If you have any questions, feel free to hit up the dash cam forum. The creator and distributors (3 iirc) are always on there answering whatever issues/questions owners may have.
