little mesh wiring on the filter found 3 of them and one poking on the filter in the back and some little bits of rubber molding pieces.... caught my eye when i saw that big pot hole like quality and carefully looked at the filter and saw them.. glad i didnt put it in i was about to till the hole on the side said to me this is bad quality.... not sure if i want to find out what happens if tiny wire bits and rubber gets inside the throttle would you trust that if you saw it

I’m sure they’d send you a replacement that’s more up to par. But you can never go wrong with the filtration of OEM.

You make it sound like this air filter was going to be causing damage to your car lol. Aside from the annoying small break on the side (which probably has no effect on the "gains" anyway), I don't see anything wrong with the filter. To each their own I guess though.

Hopefully you realize that the mesh is only on the the part of the filter facing outwards, not on the engine side. That tiny thing he pointed at with pliers is on the gasket and wouldn't get sucked in. Even if it did, it wouldn't do anything.

Obviously it's not great that it slipped by QC thougg

There was some rubber molding tiny parts also all over i removed and one tiny wire mesh on the back was poking through the filter and that 2 I circle green i took pic before I took it out once i found that pot hole like chunk caught my eye so I had to look at it more closely. I was about to just put it in but that molding stopped me.

Yes as a mil spec quality worker this made my ocd tick bad 🤣🤣🤣 not going on my brz ts 2020 NOPE!!😂 I'm sure you wouldn't put this on your car also

Funny enough, from looking at GS's product photos, you can actually see the picture of the BRZ filter with the hole on the edge just as you have it (Maybe the secret to making all that power). I guess I wouldn't be surprised that this is how a lot of aftermarket filters are, as there are probably few people like you who do such detailed checks on them. But who knows.

Interesting find.. i didn't noticed that back then on my frs had a hks air filter.. i think ill just stick to oem filter for now.. plus weather is warmer and more fine dust flying around here.. plus now that I know that filter has a tiny hole poke from a wire I took off but I like flapped it back cant notice it lol but still just not happy with this..

I'm retuing back to ft86 and sent pics to grimmspeed about it and see maybe they can address that so maybe others won't get a bad quality of a QC .
