Nyobolt EV

https://callumdesigns.com/nyobolt

Just saw this today. Interesting EV that once again uses the Elise as a design. 6-minute charge on a small 155 mile range battery.

As with all ev's these days, I'll believe it when it's rolling off the assembly line

I still won't get an EV until I absolutely have to. So when the GRC gives up, or gas just becomes too expensive (would have to be more than buying an EV).

Same......

-Give me an interesting EV.
-Im not going to live my life AROUND the EV, when the car is supposed to be a tool FOR me.
-Just like smartphones theres going to be a point when the tech kind of plateaus where you dont really get "better" with each new release. That's the time to jump in so if you got an older EV its not old enough to be completely outdated but neither will it be completely outdated against newer tech.
-When i buy a car, its staying with me until i need to change it. That's either going to mean the car either dies or the car doesnt work for my needs anymore. Not changing out a car just because.

So what is the point of this EV? If it's anything like a real Elise, then it has little purpose other than track, or weekend drivers car. Not a good errands car. Not a good DD. Not a good family car. Etc...

Silly

I'm guessing it's basically to test out the battery and charging tech? With such a low range, I wouldn't even try tracking it.

Even a Tesla in track mode couldn't sustain more than a couple laps at Laguna Seca, a 2.2 mile track.

Ouch. Guessing thermal management? Wonder how Formula E (is that still a thing?) does it?

Like the electric SEVEN. However, If I was still working I'd be all over either car. I drove on average 75 kilometers (about 47 miles) to and from work. Living in the country meant I had a variety of routes to take with different types of roads. I loved my drive in and back home and therefore always drove a fun car. Flogging a little seven or Elise style car 5 days a week would be heaven and there would be no need for an 800 mile range beast. So I can see that a 150 mile range fun car would have it's merits.

Yep, these smaller battery fun EVs would work for daily-commute in rural areas (fun roads and no traffic).
Sadly for most people the daily commute is not fun and fun cars are reserved to weekends with longer distances. I'm 90 miles away from good driving roads and the closest track is 130 miles away. This makes it harder to fit an EV fun car until charging times become equivalent to refueling times.

Ok, sure, I understand. I'm one of those nuts with a lotus Exige. BUT, how many people are in a location like yours, with the desire to drive a go cart to work? Very small market. Very small market means higher than should be price. They will sell tens of them if in production. Then, try to get parts when they fold. Yea!

I haven't looked into it for years, but I believe formula E traded cars half way through their 50 minute race. Each team had 2 cars.

They used to do that. They run one car the whole race now.
