I'm is Shrewsbury and my son is in S. Glastonbury. I'm 35 minutes from Thompson and 2 1/2 from Lime Rock. Went to SCCA drivers school at Thompson in 1972!

Just checking in to report that I still have a pulse and keeping down solid food. Turned 70 back in September. I can get in and out of the driver seat on my own, but hardly anyone I know that still can walk on their own power can get in my car easily. Even my 13 year old Labrador prefers to go to the dog park in our Ascent. He needs a pet ramp to get in. Getting old is a bitch and I don't recommend it. Tell all your friends that may be considering a fun car to not put it off until they are on Medicare.

I bought my 2016 FRS 2.0 at age 68. I'm 72 now and at 6'2" tall I've developed a technique as to how I fold myself into and out of my car. Once in,it's roomy and comfortable. The wife says the FRS is a babe magnet until they get a load of my salt and pepper beard (more salt than pepper).

58 year young and have had a BRZ since 2013. Track it 2 to 4 times per year. It is so much fun around a curvy track. Stock engine, only suspension mods, after market wheels and tires, and light weight driveshaft.

76 last Friday (10/30)

I back into the driver seat and rotate to enter. To exit, I rotate, put my feet on the ground and use my elbows against the A and B pillars to do a breast stroke to pull me out.
5'6"-240 lbs(fat and sweaty).

You should! Actually, lost time on this corner because I was "sliding" just a little too much. Did correct and was on my way!!

How to keep driving a BRZ/86 when you're old

This is the answer to those of us of a certain age (with the first digit being a "6" or a "7")(or if anyone out there is in their eighth decade of life and driving a BRZ/86).

My wife came up with this solution for us, mirroring what @jcw99 suggested. We're each of fairly normal size (at least she is), but, being 60-somethings, parts are beginning to wear out (our parts, not the BRZ's parts). In my case, the first appearance of arthritis is chipping away at my hips.

As @jcw99 said, for anyone with limits in mobility, for any reasons, the answer is 1) when getting in the car, back into the seat. Let gravity be your friend. Fall into it (hopefully a controlled fall) and then bring the feet in. 2) more importantly, when getting out of the car (which is MUCH harder for me), swing both feet out, and then stand up.

This is SO much easier than the usual technique of putting one foot into the footwell and then stepping into the car, or the reverse, stepping out with one foot and trying to climb out. For us, that's OK for getting in, but doesn't work any more for getting out. The bones and joints just don't work as well anymore.

But thanks to the "two foot" technique, I think it's added at least 5-10 years to my being able to drive this car!
