Got an update today that the QC hold was reduced to 21 days, I am at day 17 apparently. Sounds like good news, but not holding my breath.

My hope for you is that you get to take it home this upcoming week. Personally I’m not happy with my dealer. I bought 2 cars from them within the last year not including the GR86 that I had reserved. They have not been honest about this QC hold and have just been telling me it’s on a train for the last 2 months. Why not tell me that it’s on QC hold?

As of today is your ETA blank? Mine is but I think ours are in the similar hold pattern…

Yes, my ETA field is still blank and no word from dealer.

How convenient of Toyota. Do a QC hold just long enough so that the February incentive expires. There went the $500 that was available in my region. Guess what March’s incentive is? Big fat zero!

Yep. Just a big plot to miss out on a bunch of sales to save a couple of thousand dollars on some incentives.

A QC hold is for an issue that they feel may cost them a pile down the road and is not taken lightly. Would you rather have a potentially defective car for $500 cheaper?

Regardless of the issue it would need to be fixed under warranty anyway so how are they saving anything? Then why not keep the incentive?

Depends what it is. A QC hold is not because the HU won't recognize your bluetooth or something like that. It will be a significant issue and very possibly affect safety so is better addressed before the cars ship not after.

Think it through from a corporate perspective. The rebates they would have avoided would probably equal about .005 seconds worth of the company toilet paper budget. To delay selling cars to save those incentive dollars (which are there to help sell MORE cars) is not something that is even remotely reasonable at a corporate level.

Sure, but out or respect to their most loyal clients that have already gone through too much ***t from their dealerships, they could extend the incentive for people whose cars got affected by the QC hold.

Dude. They do not care about a few hundred customers. Those waiting for an 86 are most certainly not "loyal" or even special in any way no matter how entitled they may feel.
Right now they have people waiting up to 6 months for a base Corolla and that is where their money comes from. That is where they need to focus to stay in business.
Remember that the dealerships are NOT part of Toyota even though they have the big logo out front. Not sure what "shit" they have put anybody through anyway. You do know that the whole industry is still a mess right?
If you really need that $500 to buy the fucking car then you should probably be reevaluating your priorities in the first place.

I'm not trying to be entitled.

But if a good restaurant messes something up, they will go out of their way to make it right. And I'm not saying "expensive"; I've seen good behavior like that even from cheap ones. This is how customer loyalty is gained or easily lost.

The QC hold is entirely their issue. The expired incentive is just bad icing on the sour cake of "your car was delayed".

I agree it was a stretch to say "most loyal" though
But also given the experience I've had so far with Toyota dealers and Subaru dealers, I'll much more likely recommend someone to buy a base Impreza over a Corolla now, or in the future.

That is just it though. It isn't a burned hamburger in a restaurant. If a restaurant can't serve you a burger because all the cattle died of mad cow do you feel you should get a discount when they finally can?

There are delays in delivery's (and manufacture for that matter) of all cars right now. It isn't the dealers fault and they are not causing "shit" for anybody since there is zip all they can do about it. You think they would not much rather having some money coming in? They aren't doing it as a hobby you know.
Expecting some form of special consideration because of these issues is the very definition of entitlement!
